Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems and clearly states a position that practical issues are more significant. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of healthcare and employment, though some points are slightly under-developed. For example, the explanation of 'struggling to proper communication' is vague and could benefit from more specific elaboration on how this impacts the individual's life. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument, but the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting examples to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'dealing it practically' or 'likewise at hospitals.' The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is logical, but the internal cohesion within the second paragraph is slightly hampered by grammatical errors that disrupt the logical progression of ideas. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'grave social problems' and 'socially engaged.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'struggling to proper communication' (should be 'struggling to communicate properly') and 'temporary based' (should be 'temporary in nature'). Spelling errors like 'hosiptals' and 'enviroment' also occur. To improve, the student should focus on using collocations more accurately and refining their word choices to sound more natural in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms, prepositions, and article usage (e.g., 'in abroad,' 'due poor skills,' 'social problems can solved'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, although they do not prevent communication. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and there are issues with sentence construction that affect the overall accuracy. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences and focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and prepositional phrases would significantly improve the score.
