Student answer (Band 5.0)

Living in a nation where people have to speak a foreign language can effect serious problems, as well as practical problems. However, I discord with this view point because of people are understanding and they are supportive to each other.

One of the major reasons for my disapproval of this view point is the mostly people are understanding. This is due to fact that human psychology understand all the languages that are speak by individuals. For instance, a study conduct by Foreign language department has approved people can speak any languages as they want due to its positive outcomes for the people and society.

Another worth considering reason for my disagreement is people are supportive to each other. To elaborate, when individual speak any other language they support at that particular time period and they also want to learn that language. If people support each other this boost up in the society, it can benefit people in many way they do not fight and love each other

To conclude, it is clear from the above mentioned points that the idea of understanding and supportive for each other seems practical and it would be wise to accept this idea and promote it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 201 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and under-developed. While you state a clear position, the arguments provided—such as the claim that 'human psychology understand all the languages'—are vague and lack logical depth or relevant real-world examples. The task requires a more thorough exploration of both social and practical problems, but the response remains too brief to fully address the complexity of the prompt. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is often unclear due to awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While you use some transition words like 'However' and 'To elaborate', the connections between sentences are often mechanical or illogical. For instance, the transition between the idea of 'human psychology' and the 'Foreign language department' study is disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning consistently throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. You rely on basic terms like 'people', 'supportive', and 'understand'. There are also instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'discord' instead of 'disagree' and 'effect' instead of 'affect'. The phrasing 'boost up in the society' is unnatural and lacks precision. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more accurate collocations, while ensuring that your word choices are appropriate for an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people are understanding', 'human psychology understand', 'individual speak') and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'This is due to fact that human psychology understand all the languages that are speak by individuals' contains multiple errors in a single sentence. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and agreement before attempting more complex structures to ensure your writing is clear and accurate.
