Student answer (Band 5.5)
language plays an important role whether to preserve culture or to have a proper communication . Country where everybody has to speak its own language can cause serious social issues , as well as practical problems. this essay will ellaborate the reason and my own perspective.
To commence with , language is the main factor which helps a person to maintain proper relation with others by doing communication in different languages which they are comfortable in. but nowadays , everybody is getting influence by foreign langauge which donot allow people to have conversation in their own nation langauge or mother tounge. for example , country like italy and germany made compulsary to use their own langauge for any kind of communication which made a big issue for the people who migrated there for studies or made even more difficult to find job opportunities , the main reason is that they are not familiar with the langauge they have to speak as they are forced to use language selected by country.
The usage of foreign langauge has some benefits as well , learning new language helps an individual to learn uniquness of language which reflects the importance of that language and helps to communicate everywhere in the glob as it will help them to do better communication which opens the door for achieving something because at the end they have to do communication in foreign language if people are migrating abroad. learning it in advance creates the clear base for them.
In conclusion , I personally believe that foreign langauge should be taught but donot make it compulsory as doing this will demotivate an indiviual and can hurt their sentiments as they are not able to preserve their own langauge and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems, though the development is somewhat uneven. You clearly state your position in the conclusion, but the introduction is slightly vague regarding your stance. While you provide examples like Italy and Germany, the connection between these examples and the 'social problems' mentioned in the prompt is not fully explored. The argument regarding the benefits of foreign languages in the third paragraph is relevant, but it could be more tightly linked to the prompt's focus on the difficulties of living in a foreign-language environment. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports your central thesis with more detailed analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'for example', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to better contrast the two sides of the argument. Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes unclear, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read to grasp the intended meaning. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear logical progression between ideas will enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'migrated', 'opportunities', and 'demotivate'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'ellaborate', 'donot', 'langauge', 'tounge', and 'glob'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision and focus on accurate spelling. Avoid repeating the same words (e.g., 'language' and 'communication') and try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, such as missing articles ('country like italy'), subject-verb agreement ('country... made compulsary'), and punctuation issues (e.g., spaces before commas). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles and verb tenses. Additionally, ensure that complex sentences are punctuated correctly to avoid run-on structures. Proofreading your work for these common grammatical slips would significantly improve your score.
