Student answer (Band 5.0)

Residing in a country where u have to speak other language can cause huge social issues, as well as practical troubles. It is becoming a debated topic nowadays. I strongly agree with this statement.

In the country where u could not speak native language can face substantial challenges. The major difficulty is that you cannot communicates to the local person that's are living there. For instance, if the person living in USA there native language is English and then he moved to Spain where the whole mean of communication is in Spanish then he definitely face many hurdles for settles there.

Also one of the major trouble is that u cannot find a job easily there. But if u succeeded in securing job there then the wages will be very low there also the job is not much respected.

Learning the foreign language is almost necessary for the settlement and also for getting PR there. Most countries demand the B2 level certificate of there native language for giving them nationality.

There are also other challenges including you face many difficulties first for learning that foreign language, it is not an easy task that learning other language. So, learning basic foreign language words also a serious task then after took grip on basic then there are not much to learn remaining language words.

In conclusion, there are many hurdles facing in a country where u did not have any piece of knowledge about there language and speaking foreign is not much efficient there.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that living in a foreign country causes social and practical problems. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention employment and language certification, the points are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the paragraph regarding the difficulty of learning a language is circular and does not clearly explain the 'social' problems mentioned in the prompt. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported argument rather than restating the same point. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence remains superficial throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas are often mechanical or missing, such as the abrupt shift in the final paragraph. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'also' is used frequently to start sentences). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'there are not much to learn remaining language words', which makes the flow difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'huge', 'trouble', and 'difficulties' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'whole mean of communication' instead of 'primary language' or 'medium of communication', and 'took grip on basic' instead of 'mastered the basics'. The use of 'u' instead of 'you' is inappropriate for an academic task and should be avoided entirely. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary and demonstrate more precise control over word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'he definitely face many hurdles'), article usage (e.g., 'in the country where u could not speak native language'), and sentence structure. The use of informal abbreviations like 'u' is a significant error in an academic context. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often poorly constructed or contain errors, such as 'if the person living in USA there native language is English'. A focus on basic sentence accuracy and eliminating informal shorthand is essential.
