Student answer (Band 5.5)
Living in foreign country where people speaks different languages can create various social and practical problems. I agree with this statement because there is importance of communication skills in every day activities and for different types of jobs. However this difficulty can be reduced if people can make some efforts and learn different type of local languages. but there is a major problem to communicate with local people. When someone cannot speaks the local language there is the difficulty to make friendship with them and participate with local activities. For example a person moves for india to out of india and for education may find some difficulties to make new friends and communicate with them and because of this he avoids social gatherings due to lack of confidence.
There are also some several problems. people need to learn some local language to use there public transport, local signs, hospitals or some jobs.
A person with poor language skills may have some misunderstand some type of important information or have some difficulty to explain. Living in foreign language can also encourage people to learn new language people can improve there communication skills and this can help people to build there confidence.
In conclusion, i can strongly agree that living in country where foreign language is spoken can curse a serious social and practical difficulties. However learning local language and communication can help people to overcome there social fear and get confidence to communicate with people. And adopted a change in there language helps them to communicate fluently

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems associated with living in a foreign-language environment. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the paragraph regarding practical problems lists examples like 'public transport' and 'hospitals' but does not elaborate on the consequences of these challenges in a nuanced way. The conclusion introduces a slightly contradictory point about 'social fear' which was not fully explored in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific explanations or hypothetical scenarios to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by mechanical transitions. For instance, starting a sentence with 'but' or 'And' is informal and affects the cohesion. While you use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'For example', the connection between sentences is sometimes repetitive. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'There are also some several problems', where the link to the previous paragraph is weak. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the readability and logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'problems', 'difficulties', and 'good/bad' structures. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'curse a serious social and practical difficulties' (likely intended 'cause') and 'misunderstand some type of important information'. Spelling errors, such as 'there' instead of 'their' and 'india' (capitalization), also occur frequently. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to language acquisition and social integration, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'people speaks' instead of 'people speak' and 'someone cannot speaks'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas after introductory phrases and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction impede the flow. To improve, you should practice identifying and correcting common errors like verb tense consistency, article usage, and subject-verb agreement. Focusing on writing error-free simple sentences before attempting more complex structures will help build a stronger foundation.
