Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's rapidly changing world many aspects of human life are evolving significantly. Living in a country where you have to speak international language can cause serious problems, as well as practical issue. This essay will examine the foreign language can create social or practical problems and I extremely agree with it before giving reasons.

Firstly, every country has a there own language with different accents because you see in almost 10 to 12 KM people change their accents. Like if people come from foreign country they have to face many difficulties. They cannot survive their because didn't understand language and they need to learn language. Moreover, all offices require proper language for work and then they offer job other wise not.

Secondly, they also face social problems they cannot communicate local residents. Furthermore, if they go to for shopping then they also need to understand and communicate with them. So language is important for surviving to foreign. Similarly, they cannot study at international if they didn't well known about their language. In addition, if someone go to overseas to their study they need to learn their language first then they are able to survive their. In my opinion, speak foreign languages can cause many social and practical problems.

To conclude it, in foreign country you speak their own international language then it will create many problems. So they need to learn their language then you are able to survive other wise you face many difficulties such as communication. If their language then they will survive easily and no face these issue.

On the other hand, if they go abroad for job then companies didn't give job because they set language is compulsory.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing social and practical problems related to language barriers. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the point about accents changing every '10 to 12 KM' is unclear and does not effectively support the argument about foreign language difficulties. The conclusion and the final paragraph introduce new points (like job requirements) that should have been integrated into the main body paragraphs. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on one clear idea supported by a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often interrupted by unclear phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition', they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is occasionally confusing, particularly in the final paragraph where the transition to a new point ('On the other hand') feels disconnected from the rest of the essay. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic words like 'problems', 'language', and 'survive'. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'well known about their language' instead of 'proficient in the language' and 'surviving to foreign' instead of 'surviving in a foreign country'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and precision in word choice restricts the score. To reach a higher band, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to migration, linguistics, and professional integration, and practice using these words in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('go to for shopping'), incorrect verb forms ('didn't well known'), and issues with subject-verb agreement ('companies didn't give job'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, which occasionally makes the text difficult to follow. While the errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to cause strain for the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of articles, prepositions, and correct verb tenses, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
