Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is perceived that living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can have social repercussions among practical problems. And i believe this is true to big degree. A Language is a corner stone of any society and as humans we are privileged to share a wide array of languages and cultures amongst us. However whilst in a tourist stand point this could be quite amusing, if you plan to seek residence in a country that speaks a foreign language, it quickly becomes a problem.
The major problem of learning and speaking another language is the fluency and experience. When you speak your native language, you feel comfortable and at ease. You could also speak in varying speeds depending on the situation and adjust the tones while manipulating words to extract the best result from your words. These are some of the key advantages you get from your native language but when you shift to a foreign language, you naturally lose them, thus giving you a big hurdle to cross over.
A language is quite a sensitive tool sometimes and it has the power to trigger emotions amongst other humans. Foreign languages tend to have customs and their own "do's and dont's". Some gestures or words could be rude or hurtful to the native speakers but you would be oblivious to it. Then comes the second issue, social comfort. Using a foreign language is not the same as using a native language when it comes to casual or social scenarios.
You can find it hard to fit in to the society at first due to the lack of knowledge on how they speak at a casual gathering, thus this could lead to very uncomfortable interactions. This can lead to serious issues such as isolation and loneliness specially if you travel alone. Now most of these hurdles can be crossed by the continuous practice of the language, however if you migrated for work or educational related activities this could soon become a burden as you have to allocate extra time into learning a new language. This could eventually lead into burnouts or exhaustion and loss of interest.
The above stated facts clearly mention the difficulties faced when living in a foreign country which uses another language. These social and practical issues could soon coagulate and lead to something severe. It is highly adviced that individuals should be fluent with a language before travelling to another country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed the prompt well, clearly stating your position that living in a foreign-language environment presents significant social and practical challenges. You have provided relevant examples, such as the difficulty of navigating social nuances and the potential for isolation. The ideas are extended and supported, though some points, such as the 'coagulation' of issues, could be explained with more concrete detail to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused and maintains a consistent position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as the loss of fluency or social discomfort. You use cohesive devices like 'However', 'Thus', and 'The above stated facts' to link your points. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the practical challenges from the social ones, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'social repercussions', 'corner stone', and 'oblivious to it' show a good grasp of language. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'coagulate' (which usually refers to blood or liquids) and 'highly adviced' (should be 'advised'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, these occasional errors in collocation prevent the response from reaching the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Whilst in a tourist stand point this could be quite amusing, if you plan to seek residence...'. There is good control over punctuation and sentence construction. However, there are some recurring errors, such as the capitalization of 'i' and minor grammatical slips like 'amongst other humans' or 'work or educational related activities'. Despite these, your meaning is always clear, and the errors do not impede communication.
