Student answer (Band 6.0)

Language barrier is the major concern of todays youth, particularly for them who are living in the out countries. Hence, it is argued that people staying in foreign have consequences while speaking foreign language not only social but also practical. I , majorly agree with the given statement due to some reasons which the essay will discuss in the upcoming paragraph.

Apparently, some professions such as nursing and engineering required knowledge of a native language of the nation, to work efficiently with local residents and business tycoons. For example, in Germany and France, German and French language is mandatory to learn for other nation's students , if they want to peruse a career there. Moreover, lack of knowledge of a nurse or an engineer can lead to harm of people's life through wrong treatment or in explaining of the particular machine's operate system.

Although, there are many other fields which do not require language, and local people also understand that leaning a totally different language is not easy for everyone. Labour work, for instance, many industries and factories hire international people due to lack of workers and many task does not require intense communication. So, many employer choose hard working people over native language with understanding of compulsion of foreigners.

To conclude, though some professional can face major issues in both socialising and practical things, yet there are other fields are also available which only focus on the practical aspect rather than both the social and a practical from international people .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems, though the development is somewhat limited. You clearly state your position in the introduction, but the arguments in the body paragraphs lack depth. For instance, the point about nursing and engineering is relevant, but the explanation of 'social' problems is underdeveloped. You mention that language is mandatory for students in Germany and France, but you do not fully explore the 'social' consequences mentioned in the prompt, such as isolation or difficulty integrating into the community. To reach a higher band, ensure that both aspects of the prompt—social and practical—are explored with equal weight and supported by more detailed reasoning or specific, well-explained examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Although', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical connection is slightly strained, such as the transition into the paragraph about labor work. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'both the social and a practical from international people' in the conclusion, which is confusing. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'foreign language' and 'practical', and there are several instances of awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'out countries', 'staying in foreign', and 'business tycoons' (which is not the most appropriate term for this context). While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary limits your score. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and to express your ideas with more nuance and academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'particularly for them who are living', 'required knowledge of a native language', and 'many task does not require'. There are also issues with article usage ('the' vs. 'a') and pluralization. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by these errors. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for these common errors will help you achieve a higher level of grammatical control.
