Student answer (Band 5.5)

Major practical issues and social problems are been caused to the individuals who are living in a country who have to speak overseas language.I strongly disagree with the statement because when individuals choose the country for the studies or to live they have to pass the certain language test like IELTS,PTE ,so without clearing the test one cannot enter or live into the foreign country because of the visa requirements.

On the one hand, If people find difficult to pass the laguage test some people cheat on their exams or through corruption they just buy the marks in such cases those individuals face serious issues in their day to day life.for instance, ravi did not study for the language exam just copied the entire exam and passed then he might find the social interactions very difficult because he did not learn the language at all so in such that might be a problem.

On the other hand, individuals who practice and learn for the exams such as, IELTS and PTE those students eventually pass and built a better communication skills which will be very usefull in the foreign places where they don't find any difficulty in interacting with the people. In addition, every country has its own visa requirement rules hence if individuals who really work hard and honestly pass all the requirements then that person will not get any issues in his life.

In conclusion, though concerns regarding difficulty of exams are understandable, learning the language and gaining good marks in language exams is significant and by doing that one can easily solve the issues regarding social and practical problems.Hence i disagree on the statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited. You take a clear position, but the argument relies heavily on the assumption that language tests are a perfect filter for language proficiency. The example of 'Ravi' is somewhat anecdotal and does not fully explore the broader social or practical implications mentioned in the prompt, such as cultural isolation or workplace integration. To improve, you should expand on the 'social' and 'practical' aspects mentioned in the prompt rather than focusing primarily on the validity of language testing systems. The argument remains somewhat superficial and lacks depth in its analysis of the challenges faced by immigrants.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' is used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. Some sentences are run-on, such as '...language test some people cheat on their exams or through corruption they just buy the marks in such cases those individuals face serious issues in their day to day life.' Improving the use of punctuation and linking words would help create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'serious issues', 'better communication skills', and 'find any difficulty'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'buy the marks' and 'overseas language' (instead of 'foreign language'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'linguistic barriers', 'social integration', or 'proficiency requirements', and ensure that your word choices are more natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Major practical issues and social problems are been caused to the individuals' (passive voice error), 'living into the foreign country' (preposition error), and 'built a better communication skills' (subject-verb agreement). You rely mostly on simple and compound sentences, with limited attempts at complex structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
