Student answer (Band 6.0)
Living in a country where people have to speak a foreign language can create both social and practical problems. I largely agree with this statement because language differences can make communication difficult and may also prevent people from fully participating in society.
One the major social problems is the difficulty of communicating with local people. When immigrants cannot speak the local language fluently, they may find it hard to make friends, communicate with neighbours participate in community activities. As a result, they can feel isolated and may have difficulty developing a sense if belonging. For example, a person who moves to Australia without having good English skills may struggle to communicate without colleagues and may gradually avoid social situations.
Language barriers can also create practical problems in daily life. People may have difficulty understanding doctors, teachers, bank workers, or governments officials. For doctors instructions, they may take medicine incorrectly. Similarly, workers who cannot understand safety instructions may face accidents at work. Moreover, they may struggle to find suitable employment because many jobs require effective communication skills. This can lead to financial difficulties and make it harder form them to support their families. They may also public announcements, which could results in serious mistakes.
In conclusion, living in country where a foreign language is required can create a serious social and practical problems or difficulties. However, these problems can reduced by providing language classes, translation services, and other forms of support to people who are learning the local languages. International language English language is very important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant social and practical examples. The ideas are extended, such as the discussion on medical risks and employment challenges. However, the development is somewhat brief, and the conclusion introduces a new, slightly irrelevant point about the importance of the English language, which does not directly address the prompt's focus on the problems of living in a foreign-speaking country. To reach a higher band, ensure that all points in the conclusion directly reinforce the arguments made in the body paragraphs rather than introducing new, tangential topics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'One the major', 'Similarly', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some mechanical errors in cohesion, such as the missing preposition in 'communicate with neighbours' and the awkward phrasing 'They may also public announcements'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate social and practical issues. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow could be improved by refining the transitions between sentences to make the connections more natural and less formulaic.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'isolated', 'sense of belonging', and 'effective communication skills'. However, there are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'communicate without colleagues' (likely meant 'with') and 'harder form them' (typo). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in country'), incorrect prepositions, and minor typos ('if' instead of 'of', 'form' instead of 'for'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'these problems can reduced' (missing 'be'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and proofreading for basic grammatical slips would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
