Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent times, people are shifting to overseas from their homeland for better education and earning. Where they face many problems but language is the main complication which causes them social problems. I partially agree with this statement.
On the one hand, majority of people shifts to another country where they face many problems like food, culture, rules and language barriers. Speaking non-native language can lead into serious issues like misinformation and difficulty in socialization with natives of the country. It happens because people are afraid and victim of stress that how would natives react if they did not understand them. Foreigners often try to make migrants feel uncomfartable and make them experience partiality because they often supports people of their country and they don not like people of other country.
On the other hand, shifting to better nation helps people with better facilities and more opportunity of better life. The main reason for shifting is betterment for children's study and more job opportunities and better earning. They get free education and medical facilities which is not provided in their native country. People think shifting to foreign country would make their life easier than their own country which is true at some extent. But when they spend much time in a different country their language and accent would improve because of their surroundings and every day speaking and conversing with the people who talk in that language.
To conclude, I partially agree with this statement because people who migrates from different country faces many language and partiality problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical aspects of living in a foreign country. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you touch upon social problems like 'misinformation' and 'partiality', these points are not fully explored with concrete examples. The second body paragraph shifts focus to the benefits of migration, which is relevant to the context, but you could have strengthened the argument by linking these benefits more directly to the challenges mentioned in the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by specific, detailed evidence rather than general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'It happens because people are afraid...'. The conclusion is brief and does not effectively synthesise the arguments presented. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between ideas is more explicitly stated to guide the reader through your argument more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'migrants', 'native country', and 'socialization'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'shifting to overseas' (should be 'moving abroad') and 'partiality' (where 'discrimination' or 'prejudice' would be more natural). There are also some spelling errors like 'uncomfartable'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing like 'better' and 'people'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('they often supports', 'people who migrates'), article usage ('to another country' vs 'to a foreign country'), and awkward phrasing ('true at some extent' should be 'true to some extent'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and prepositional accuracy, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater precision.
