Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 172 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay touches upon the prompt by mentioning social and practical problems, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. The position is somewhat clear, but the lack of length prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must expand on your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is present but the flow of ideas is disjointed. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition') to connect your ideas more effectively and improve the overall flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'Abroad life is such a tough' and 'cannot talk foreign language'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient for a higher band score. You should focus on learning collocations and more precise academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'talk foreign language', use 'achieve proficiency in a foreign language'. Expanding your range of synonyms and using them in the correct context will significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'Their will be less opportunities' instead of 'There will be fewer opportunities'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary for higher band scores. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and the correct use of homophones like 'their/there' and 'they're/their' to improve your accuracy.
