Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowdays numerous individuals migrate from one to another country for work and study basis. Today we are going to talk about speaking foreign language cause serious cause such as social problems and practical problems as well. I am totally disagree with this statement. And i’m going to explain both points in individual paragraphs.
Firstly when people move abroad they do get uncomfortable because of language barriers. However most of people speaks english now days which is global language amongst all the languages.but if we learn a new foreign language it give us a way to communicate with them in their native speech. For instance when i went to the uk they do speak english but their accent was very different to the united state of America. So i got confused in many words but by the time i learned. And people are also friendly in the foreign landscapes so they teach us how to pronounce the words.
On the other hand it does have few negative sides as well. There are few countries that does not have friendly peoples and they sometimes do racism. For example in few countries in east asia called china, japan, korea they have posted a banners in their hotels and stores that indians are not welcomed in our promises.
Overall, there are many type of people in the world and all not are the same. Bunch of people do racism because of their nature. However there are still many friendly people in other countries who teaches us about their culture and languages. So i am disagree with this statement that speaking foreign language can cause any social and practical problems

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth in its arguments. While you clearly state your disagreement, the supporting points are underdeveloped. For instance, the discussion on language barriers is anecdotal rather than analytical, and the transition to the counter-argument regarding racism is abrupt and not directly linked to the prompt's focus on 'language' as the primary cause of social problems. The conclusion is repetitive and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct reason that directly supports your position, providing more generalized evidence rather than relying solely on personal experience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression between ideas is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', 'Overall'). Some sentences are disjointed, such as the transition between the discussion of English accents and the mention of friendly people. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow within paragraphs could be improved by using more varied linking words to connect the cause-and-effect relationships between language and social integration.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'numerous individuals', 'serious cause', and 'bunch of people'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'work and study basis' (should be 'for work or study purposes') and 'foreign landscapes' (which is an unusual collocation in this context). To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic vocabulary and collocations that are appropriate for a formal essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of people speaks', 'countries that does not'), article usage, and punctuation errors. For example, 'I am totally disagree' should be 'I totally disagree'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and prepositions to improve the accuracy of your writing.
