Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth and clear development. While you acknowledge the problems of living in a foreign-language environment, the arguments are somewhat disjointed. For example, the point about 'locales' getting employment as tour guides is a bit tangential and does not directly support the argument regarding the social or practical problems faced by the individual. The position is present but not consistently maintained or clearly articulated throughout the essay. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported idea that directly answers the 'to what extent' aspect of the question.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is weak. Transitions are often missing or misused, such as 'In further words' or 'In the end, I must you'. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, which makes the flow of the argument feel choppy. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended meaning. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'on the other hand') to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'eloborate', 'diffculity', 'locales', 'wanderfull'). There is little evidence of an attempt to use less common or more precise vocabulary. The phrasing is often awkward, such as 'Language is a basic mean we have to understand or get a per'. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to language barriers, social integration, and cultural adaptation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a limited range of grammatical structures, and the essay contains frequent errors in sentence construction, verb tense, and word order. For example, 'If we don't know how to speak a language can help locales' is grammatically incorrect. Many sentences are simple or contain structural errors that occasionally impede communication. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the use of complex sentences with correct subordinating conjunctions.
