Student answer (Band 5.0)

Learning and speaking a new language while living in a country can lead to various social and practical life difficulties.

I completely agree with this statement. Because living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language. Can create significant social and practical problems. I completely agree because there will be a language barrier and because of that we are unable to speak with people more confidently.

Firstly, learning a new language can cause a various and serious problems. People are more focusing on learning a language rather then focusing on their work. This meant that there minds was always in trouble. Therefore, they should focused on their work. There will be a social problems also they may face if they are more active before. After that, they are not more social and extrovert. With time, they are becoming introvert and less active.

Furthermore, this will impact on their office life also. They are more confused between learning a language or completing their work on time. Unfortunately, they are living more stress life instead of living a relax and stress free life. Learning a new language can cause a speaking problem. They may need a time to think about what they will want to say. All of this adds up to an problematic and more hectic life.

Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause many dramatic and significant problems. In social and practical life as well. There will be also a language barrier.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses the prompt by agreeing with the statement, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding social and practical problems are presented in a very general way without specific examples or deep analysis. For instance, the claim that people focus on language rather than work is asserted but not logically explained or supported with a concrete scenario. The response lacks a clear structure, and the conclusion is merely a restatement of the introduction, failing to synthesize the points made. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific, real-world examples to support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. There is a frequent misuse of cohesive devices, such as 'After that' and 'Because', which are used incorrectly at the start of sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is mechanical. For example, the transition between the social impact and the office life impact is abrupt. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of linking words more accurately and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, central topic sentence that leads logically to the next point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'serious problems', 'social and practical problems', and 'stress life' are used multiple times, indicating a limited range. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'they are not more social and extrovert' and 'an problematic'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word formation prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. You should focus on learning collocations and using more precise vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as sentence fragments ('Because living in a country... Can create...') and incorrect verb tenses ('they should focused', 'minds was always'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and pluralization.
