Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is argued that living in the country where we need to use a foreign language for communication can lead to sever social issues and practical problems. This essay agrees with that statement because it makes difficult to communicate among people and hard to work.
Many employees has gone to abroad for work and study. Staying there as a foreign, it's a quite challenging due to language. We can not speak and understand foreign language properly. It leads to severe problems in conversation with local residents. If we can not communicate well, social relationship will be weak. For instance, sometime senior citizens want help form us but we cant provide assistance because we don't understand what kind of help they want.
From many countries people are used to going another country for better job opportunities. The workers are not able to work efficiently because the lack knowledge about other countries' communication language and they can not understand the instruction which is given in foreign language. For example, many employees from Nepal has gone South Korea to work. Due to complex language, many Nepalese workers have to face difficulties during working hours.
In conclusion, Working and studying in another country is quite challenging because we can not learn their language quickly. If we can not speak in their native language, we have to suffer from hard situation like unable to communicate and lack of work performance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems, but the development is limited. The response is under the 250-word minimum, which restricts the depth of the arguments. While the position is clear, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack sufficient elaboration. For instance, the example regarding senior citizens is relevant but not fully explored. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'For instance' and 'In conclusion' are used correctly, but there is a lack of variety in linking words. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. Improving the flow by using a wider range of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple terms such as 'difficult' and 'problems' repeatedly. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'sever social issues' (severe) and 'staying there as a foreign' (foreigner). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to language barriers, integration, and professional communication, and focus on using more precise adjectives and adverbs to convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently make errors with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Many employees has gone' (have gone) and 'many employees from Nepal has gone' (have gone). There are also issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'living in the country' (a country) and 'form us' (from us). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
