Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 106 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the development of ideas is severely limited. You mention the 'language barrier' as a cause for social problems, but the essay ends abruptly before you can provide supporting examples or explore the 'practical problems' mentioned in the prompt. To improve, you must ensure you fully develop each point with explanations and relevant examples, and you must meet the minimum length requirement to avoid a heavy penalty.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'To begin with' and 'On the one hand'. However, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall progression of the argument. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is incomplete. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and limited. To achieve a higher band, you need to ensure that your ideas are fully developed and linked together in a way that guides the reader through a complete, well-structured argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You use phrases like 'moving abroad' and 'language barrier' correctly, but there are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'inclination of a students' (should be 'inclination of students') and 'caught themselves solely' (which is unclear). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. Focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic terminology to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are several grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'inclination of a students... are surging' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'it also cause numerous problems' (should be 'causes'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures. To improve, you should practice using a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency.
