Student answer (Band 5.0)
Residing in a country where you have to communicate in foreign language, can create serious social problems and question the practicality of you. Where I strongly on ,because of cultural inappropriation and pace of learning with using.
Some people have been advising that speaking language other than your own native one can broaden the perspective along with learning the culture and history of that language. Where they specifiy that if you learn Sanskrith ,for instance, then you will learn the culture of India and the myths while also sharing views with people like Priests. And they also mention the advantage of communicating with natives of that region where its use to get through day to day life if you are living there. For instance, if we have to live in Germany then you should be familiar with German since most of the natives speak only one language which will make a life of a foreigner easier.
While others argue that learning a language can create alot of problems than the benefits it offers, or sometimes be a blunder in disguise where they mention that the same cultural benefit can be difficult to adapt to, where in your culture it can be normal, but it can be a bad omen to others, creating complex culture confusion. For example, triple six digit is considered a devils number in most countries but it is a good luck charm in China. And learning a language is slow and tiring work afterall, one wrong sound and the meaning can change entirely.
Where, I agree the most when speaking foreign language can be a problem is the topic, since its slow, creates confusion and words can be pronounced inappropriatly.
In conclusion, living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language gives little to no opportunites but creates social and practical problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but struggles with clarity and logical development. While you state a position, the introduction is fragmented and lacks a clear thesis statement. The body paragraphs attempt to discuss both sides, but the arguments are often underdeveloped or confusing. For example, the point about 'cultural inappropriation' is mentioned but not explained, and the example regarding 'triple six' is somewhat tangential to the core issue of language barriers. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your overall stance, and provide more cohesive explanations for your examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often disjointed. Many sentences begin with 'Where,' which is an inappropriate cohesive device in this context. The use of linking words is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Where they specifiy that' or 'And they also mention.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of transition signals (e.g., 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely,' 'Consequently') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'practicality of you' and 'blunder in disguise,' which do not fit the context. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express complex ideas accurately. There are also issues with word formation, such as 'inappropriatly' (inappropriately) and 'specifiy' (specify). To improve, try to learn collocations—words that naturally go together—and focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to convey your meaning more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments ('Where I strongly on...') and run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent (e.g., 'speaking language other than your own'). Punctuation is also problematic, with commas often placed incorrectly or missing. While you attempt some complex structures, they are frequently inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
