Student answer (Band 4.5)
In some nations, there are some serious social and practical matter for speaking other countries languages. I believe that occurs because of native speaker not able to understand and communicate. I will discuss this problems and give opinion in upcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, speaking foreign language can create major problems like not able to communicate, people will ignore to response due to not understandable language. People speak their native language fluently but they can not able to speak foreign language properly so they avoid to talk with foreign language speaker. It create problem in everywhere like supermarket, transportation, and other places. When local people see foreign speaker they increase amount of rent or any product so they can not able to bargaining.
On the other hand, learning local language will be more effective like speaking in native language can increase interaction with local people. It also easy to make new friends. Local language help people to bargain for product and get at low cost. Moreover it helpful to understand traditions and culture. Learning local language and regular speaking improve confidence to talk with local communities.
I largely agree with that foreign language create huge problem to communicate.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the social and practical problems of living in a foreign-language country, and the writer clearly states a position agreeing with the prompt in the conclusion. However, the ideas are somewhat generalized and under-developed, lacking specific, well-supported examples. Furthermore, a major negative impact on this criterion is the word count: the text contains only 199 words, falling well short of the mandatory 250-word minimum for Academic Task 2. This under-length shortfall prevents full development of the topic and restricts the score to a Band 4.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, following a standard structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. There is a basic attempt to sequence ideas logically using transitional phrases such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, overall progression is limited, and cohesive devices are frequently repetitive, mechanical, or misused (e.g., 'It create problem in everywhere'). Paragraphing is present, but the abruptness of the conclusion and the brevity of the response limit the flow and coherence across the text as a whole.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently revolving around simple terms like 'foreign language', 'native language', and 'problems'. There are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocations, such as 'serious social and practical matter' instead of 'matters' or 'problems', and 'ignore to response'. While the writer attempts some less common phrases like 'increase amount of rent', the lexical range is narrow and minimally adequate, struggling to convey precise meaning smoothly and resulting in strain for the reader at times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex forms that are marred by serious errors. There are numerous grammatical inaccuracies throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement errors ('native speaker not able', 'It create problem'), missing plural forms ('foreign speaker'), and tense/infinitive errors ('they can not able to bargaining'). These persistent errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader, aligning the grammar closely with the Band 4 descriptors.
