Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is believed that, staying in another country where i need to speak other language and it is not your mother tounge, can create a major issues in social and practical. I partially agree on language barrier can create problems, because in recent days everyone are using mobile phones and travelling around the world.

I agree with the statement due to descrimination in classes and in public, communication problem. The descrimination in classes and public is based on the religion, colour and fashion style. For instance, consider an employee from India went Dubai for working. Where the people in Dubai will see Indians as low class people and they can do anything for money from their prespective. The another problemis communication, where some people don't know the other languages expect their mother-tounge and english. In this senario, from the past example Indian employee don't know urdu and Dubai owner don't know english. In this case the communication problem and description can be problem.

I disagree with latter statement, language can cause a problem in social and practical aspects. If the person is living in other country, the visa is given based on the communication skills and funding for expenses. For instance, some people in India are willing to do their masters program in Germany, where they will get visa when the person is passed or completeed the language test. On the other hand, people are using mobile phones and technology. By using any translating application they can communicate with the other people.

In conclusion, living in other country cannot create a problem when you have mobile phone and internet. Where it can create when you are illegally entered to the other country without proper visa.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the agreement and disagreement sides regarding whether living in a foreign country and speaking a foreign language causes social and practical problems. A position is presented, stating partial agreement, although the development of ideas is somewhat limited and includes over-generalizations. For instance, the discussion on discrimination and communication barriers jumps quickly between examples like an Indian employee in Dubai and a student in Germany without fully extending the arguments. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas remain underdeveloped in places, leading to a band score of 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different aspects, and a conclusion. However, the overall logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing phrasing, such as 'I disagree with latter statement' when transitioning to the counter-argument. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, as seen with repetitive referencing and sentence connectors. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smoothness, resulting in a score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on general terms like 'problem', 'people', and 'other country'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocations, such as 'descrimination in classes' instead of 'social discrimination', 'mother tounge' misspelled, and 'prespective' instead of 'perspective'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, the limitations and errors restrict the lexical score to 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are numerous grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the response, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone are using'), incorrect articles, and awkward phrasing ('Where the people in Dubai will see Indians as low class people'). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede comprehension in places, aligning the performance with band 5.0.
