Student answer (Band 5.5)
Every country has their own language and accent and language is the identity of a nation. I truly believe that living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious problems.
If i talk about my country pakistan, urdu is our mother tongue. Everybody is comfortable in speaking his native language and is more confident while speaking urdu. Because our ancestors and parents are also urdu speaking, they always taught us urdu and always speak in urdu language.
Now english is the basic requirement for every school, college, universities, jobs or what not.
It does not matter how much qualified you are , how much intelligent you are how much potential you have for that particular job. If your commumication skills are not good enough, you are unable to satisfy your interviewer. So alot of people have to face challenges in finding jobs or speakinh confidentally in public. This thing basically shatters the confidence of people. People start thinking that they are not highly educated if their english speaking skills are not good. It creates a lot of pra tical problems in our society.
Small chils have to talk in english, becayse their parents dont want to suffer from inferiority complex. In kindergarten, hiring of teachers depend on their communication skills, and they are informed that if someone is being caught speaking urdu or any language other than english will be charged money or fine from them. So, in my opinion. speaking foreign language in your own country can cause serious problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the problems caused by speaking a foreign language, specifically focusing on English in Pakistan. The position is clear throughout, as the writer expresses strong agreement with the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies heavily on personal anecdotes and generalisations rather than fully extended arguments. For example, the mention of job interviews and kindergarten rules illustrates the point, but these ideas are not deeply explored. The response covers all parts of the task adequately, fitting the profile for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement, but paragraphing is poorly handled, with a single massive block of text forming the bulk of the response and no clear division between the introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes faulty, such as 'If i talk about my country pakistan' and 'This thing basically shatters'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression between sentences is sometimes disjointed. While the general meaning can be followed, the lack of appropriate paragraphing and mechanical cohesion pulls this criterion down to a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'inferiority complex', 'qualification', and 'ancestors'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, incorrect collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'commumication', 'speakinh', 'confidentally', 'chils', and 'becayse'. Furthermore, capitalization is ignored in proper nouns like 'pakistan'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they highlight limitations in lexical control, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional clauses ('If your commumication skills are not good enough, you are unable to satisfy your interviewer'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and punctuation. Examples include 'Every country has their own language' (pronoun agreement error), 'hiring of teachers depend' (subject-verb agreement error), and lowercase 'i'. Punctuation is also neglected in places. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, this merits a Band 5.0.
