Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems associated with speaking a foreign language in a new country, stating an overall agreement with the statement. However, the development of ideas lacks clarity and depth. For instance, the phrase 'speaking new language with another person in their country can have a negative effect on relations' is vague and under-developed. While the main stance is clear throughout the introduction and conclusion, the supporting arguments in the body paragraphs tend to over-generalize and rely on repetitive assertions rather than detailed, well-supported explanations. Therefore, the response aligns best with the Band 5 descriptors, as the ideas are limited and somewhat under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence connections. For example, the transition 'In contrast, in new nation people often try to express their self and experienece' does not establish an effective contrast with the preceding paragraph. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes misused or mechanical, such as 'On the other hand, as well as due to lack of speaking fluency also can have...'. Paragraphing is present, but the overall flow feels disjointed and repetitive, making it consistent with a Band 5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is limited and repeatedly utilizes basic terms, such as 'detrimental effect' and 'practical exposures'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, including 'its to difficult', 'sufficent language speking skills', 'collegues', and 'tongue tewister'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary like 'substanitally' and 'terrority', these instances contain spelling errors or inappropriate contextual applications. The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey the general topic, but frequent inaccuracies constrain the score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors that impede readability, such as missing subject-verb agreement or incorrect verb forms in phrases like 'social factors becoming increasingly popular' and 'speak a foreign language cause can foreignners overall devlopment detrimentally'. Additionally, punctuation and capitalization errors appear regularly, including 'In conclusion, Although...'. Because complex sentences are frequently faulty and errors are persistent throughout the text, the performance corresponds to Band 5.
