Student answer (Band 5.0)

living in a country where we have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems however many people think it can also create some practical problems. I totally agree with this view living in a another country and we don't know how to speak their native language can create several issues.

One major problem it that when we lack of speaking another language we can face challanges such as it can effect our communication skills as well as employment. However it can also cause loneliness. For instance a new immigrant come to another country for study and he has some problems in speaking their language it may create problems for student such as he can't openly talk to his teacher about his doubt also find difficulties to make friend .

On the another their are some practical problems such as finding a job , going to a convience store, find problems to vist doctor for example: of a person who is new in a forgein country and he want to vist a doctor for his disease what he is unable to talk with doctor and to explain his problem it may cause a serious problem for him but we should not sitting simply we should learn to communicate nowadays their are so many social platforms to learn different languages so we should use them .

In conclusion, i agree that living in a native country can lead to social and practical problems however, these problems can be reduced by learning their language or to improve communication skills

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems associated with living in a foreign-language country, and provides a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the social problems section mentions communication difficulties and loneliness, but the supporting example of an immigrant student is brief and lacks sufficient elaboration. Similarly, the practical challenges such as going to a convenience store or visiting a doctor are listed rather than fully extended. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the arguments remain somewhat superficial and lack the depth expected for higher bands. Therefore, it fits best into Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text has an identifiable overall progression, moving from an introduction to social issues, then practical issues, and finally a conclusion. However, paragraphing is poorly executed; the second and third body paragraphs are merged into a confusing block, and the introductory and concluding statements are weak. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the use of 'On the another their are' and run-on sentences lacking punctuation. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical links between ideas. These features reflect the characteristics of Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently showing limited range and inadequacy for precise academic expression. Examples include phrases like 'make friend', 'convience store', and 'visit doctor for his disease'. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'challanges', 'effect' instead of 'affect', 'forgein', and 'native country' when referring to a foreign country in the conclusion. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, these errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from reaching Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, run-on sentences, and severe punctuation deficiencies throughout the text. For instance, sentences like 'One major problem it that when we lack of speaking another language we can face challanges such as it can effect our communication skills' demonstrate faulty clause structures and preposition usage. Punctuation is largely absent between independent clauses, resulting in long, breathless sentences. Because frequent errors consistently impede fluent reading, the response aligns with Band 5.
