Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that living in a foreign country without speaking the local language can lead to significant social isolation and practical difficulties in daily life. This essay agrees with this view, as language barriers genuinely restrict both a person's ability to build relationships and their access to employment and essential services.

Nowadays, people are moving abroad for multiple resaons such as eudcation,Job and for better life style. However, where they face various type of social problems if they cant do conversation in country's native langauges. For instance, If an individual living in germany and can't do converstion in thier national language, he will definitely unable to make friends and discuss his difficulties to other which directly effect his social life.

Furthermore, Unable to talk in foreign languages also create difficulties in practical life. Even though multiple organization give's jobs to those people who can frequently talk in their country's native language. For example, In France you must have a B2 level of profeciency in french language to start your practical job career in your desired field, If you unable to do this, this will directly make obstacales in your practical life.

In conclusion, Going abroad for better future is a very excellent approach, But also create a lot of social and practical problems for those people who are not native speaker of that country. Nevertheless, I also firmly believe that, without knowing foreign languages can make serious causes of difficulties to getting jobs and in day to day life conversation to other local citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating a position agreeing with the prompt and supporting it with relevant arguments regarding social and practical problems. The introduction clearly outlines the writer's stance, and body paragraphs explore social isolation and employment hurdles. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on brief examples like living in Germany or France without fully extending them. For instance, the discussion on employment remains basic. Overall, the response fulfills the basic requirements of Task Achievement, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor where all parts are addressed, but some ideas remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as social problems versus practical problems. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The transitions rely on basic cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In conclusion', and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the confusing phrasing in the concluding paragraph ('Nevertheless, I also firmly believe that, without knowing foreign languages can make serious causes...'). Furthermore, logical progression is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetition. These features place the response firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, warranting a score of 6.0 for adequate logical sequencing despite mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'social isolation', 'profeciency', and 'obstacales'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('resaons', 'eudcation', 'langauges', 'converstion', 'profeciency') and word choice or collocation inaccuracies ('practical job career', 'give's jobs', 'make serious causes'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The lexical resource matches the Band 5.0 to 5.5 criteria, displaying a limited but minimally adequate range with spelling and word choice errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses (e.g., 'If an individual living in germany and can't do converstion...'). However, these complex attempts are frequently faulty and contain serious grammatical errors, such as missing verbs ('if they cant do conversation'), subject-verb agreement issues ('multiple organization give's'), and awkward prepositional usage ('in day to day life conversation to other'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent throughout the text (e.g., 'Job', 'germany', 'french'). Because frequent errors persist and attempts at complex sentences are often inaccurate, the grammar aligns best with Band 5.0.
