Student answer (Band 5.5)

Staying abroad from your home country where you need to talk in a different language can be a resaon of critical social concerns also multiple type of practical disablities. I largely agree with this point of view and i will elaborate my perspective why i am on this side.

Nowadays, people are moving abroad for multiple resaons such as eudcation,Job and for better life style. However, where they face various type of social problems if they cant do conversation in country's native langauges. For instance, If an individual living in germany and can't do converstion in thier national language, he will definitely unable to make friends and discuss his difficulties to other which directly effect his social life.

Furthermore, Unable to talk in foreign languages also create difficulties in practical life. Even though multiple organization give's jobs to those people who can frequently talk in their country's native language. For example, In France you must have a B2 level of profeciency in french language to start your practical job career in your desired field, If you unable to do this, this will directly make obstacales in your practical life.

In conclusion, Going abroad for better future is a very excellent approach, But also create a lot of social and practical problems for those people who are not native speaker of that country. Nevertheless, I also firmly believe that, without knowing foreign languages can make serious causes of difficulties to getting jobs and in day to day life conversation to other local citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems associated with living in a country with a foreign language, and a clear position ('I largely agree') is maintained throughout. Ideas are introduced and supported with examples, such as living in Germany or France and facing difficulties making friends or securing employment due to language barriers. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, which prevents the essay from reaching higher bands. For instance, the example about France briefly mentions a B2 requirement but lacks deeper elaboration. This level of development aligns best with a Band 6 descriptor, as all parts of the task are addressed with relevant, albeit somewhat under-developed, ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, moving from social concerns to practical issues. However, the progression is sometimes hampered by mechanical or faulty cohesion, and referencing is not always clear (e.g., 'i will elaborate my perspective why i am on this side' and 'without knowing foreign languages can make serious causes of difficulties'). Cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In conclusion' are used, but overall the flow lacks sophistication. This reflects the Band 6 descriptor, where the overall arrangement is coherent, but cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'critical social concerns', 'practical disablities' (misuse), and 'profeciency'. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'resaon' (reason), 'eudcation' (education), 'langauges', 'converstion', and 'profeciency'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they are noticeable and demonstrate limitations in word choice and spelling control. This matches the Band 5 to 6 threshold, but leaning slightly stronger in terms of range, earning a Band 5.5 because errors in spelling and collocation occasionally cause strain for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses ('If an individual living in germany and can't do converstion...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in germany'), subject-verb agreement issues ('organization give's', 'this will directly make obstacales'), and awkward phrasing ('without knowing foreign languages can make serious causes of difficulties'). Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present (e.g., lowercase 'i', misplaced commas). These errors occasionally impede smooth reading, placing the grammar performance firmly at a Band 5 due to frequent errors and faulty complex structures.
