Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing complete agreement with the statement that living in a foreign country with a language barrier causes serious social and practical problems. However, the task achievement is heavily compromised because the text falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 210 words. As a direct consequence of this under-length constraint, the ideas presented in both the social and practical sections remain underdeveloped and lack sufficient expansion, such as more detailed personal examples. While a clear position is established from the beginning, the lack of adequate length prevents the writer from fully exploring the prompt, capping the score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The essay attempts a logical organization by dividing the content into distinct sections, such as a brief introduction, a social problems section, a practical problems section, and a conclusion. However, the structural flow is severely disrupted by awkward, formulaic meta-language and memorized essay prompts like 'in the forthcoming paragraph i have justification for suggestions', 'Exploring this further:', and 'now, considering the solution of this trend ,4Doing simple things...'. Furthermore, paragraphing is unconventional and erratic, particularly with the inclusion of numbers and broken sections. While cohesive devices like 'furthermore' and 'In conclusion' are attempted, their misuse and the overall mechanical presentation limit the coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'problem', 'people', and 'hard'. There are visible attempts to use less common items, but these are often clumsy, unnatural, or inappropriately collocated, as seen in expressions like 'solution of this trend' when discussing daily practical problems. Lexical control is weak, with issues in word choice and phrasing that reflect a limited working range. Additionally, capitalization errors occur frequently, such as 'furthermore,They' and starting sentences incorrectly, which further detracts from the overall quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic coordinators or relative pronouns. There are frequent and systematic errors in punctuation, capitalization, and spacing, such as 'problems.in the forthcoming paragraph', missing spaces after commas, and stray numbers like '4Doing'. Complex sentence attempts are often poorly constructed or fragmented. Although the core meaning usually remains understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical and mechanical errors significantly impedes fluent reading and prevents the achievement of a higher band.
