Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the contemprory era, there is a heated argument over the issue that living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.A lion share of the society fauours it, howerver others averse it. In the following paragraphs, I would shed light on its various aspects.

I see eye to eye with the central idea numerous reasons. First and foremost, speaking other languge is difficult when the individual is not prepared. Communicating with someone in other languge is difficult when someone is new in that country. Moreover, speaking foreign language is very difficult when someone is not aware of the countries language and culture. Furthermore, when people can make someone misunderstand by saying wong word which could cause a huge problem. Sometime people frogot the right sentence when they are talking to a foreign person.

at a flip side of the coin, There are some critics who are against to above stated statement. Firstly, living in a country where you speak a different language is difficult but people should prepare in advance before communicating to a foreigner. Apart from it, people can use translating apps or websites if they are unaware of any foreign language. Lastly, people should feel confident and fell free to ask for help fom somene local os someone who knew international languge.

In conclusion, this statement is halfly right and hafly wrong. People can use social media fro communication in a foreign country. In modren era there are so many translating apps and websites which could make conversation easy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the social and practical problems of living in a foreign-language country, and takes a clear position. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, especially in the second paragraph where points about the difficulty of speaking a new language and misunderstanding words are restated without deep extension. Examples are largely generalised rather than drawn from specific personal knowledge or experience. The conclusion suggests the statement is 'halfly right and hafly wrong' rather than maintaining a fully developed, coherent stance throughout. This performance aligns with Band 5.5, as it addresses the task and presents a position, but the ideas remain underdeveloped and somewhat unclear in places.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', though some are repetitive or applied mechanically. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical progression of the body paragraphs is occasionally weak due to sentences that reiterate similar points without advancing the argument. Reference words are sometimes ambiguous, such as 'someone local os someone who knew international languge'. Overall arrangement shows some organisation, but the lack of smooth progression places this performance at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The lexical resource is limited and heavily impacted by spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'contemprory', 'fauours', 'howerver', 'languge', 'wong', 'frogot', 'fall', 'fom', 'somene', 'os', 'knew', 'halfly', 'fro', and 'modren'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary ('shed light', 'eye to eye'), the high frequency of spelling mistakes and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'make someone misunderstand by saying wong word') impedes communication at times and places the response firmly at Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and emerging complex structures, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction, such as 'is a heated argument over the issue that', 'others averse it', 'speaking other languge is difficult when the individual is not prepared', and 'against to above stated statement'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'problems.A lion share') and capitalization errors ('at a flip side of the coin, There are some critics'). The high density of grammatical and mechanical errors means the majority of sentences are not error-free, corresponding to a Band 5.0.
