Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that living in a nation where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social and practical problems.I agree that language barriers can cause many problems, particularly in communications, social relationships and everyday activities.
One major problems is that people may find it difficult to communicate with local residents.As a result, they may face diificulty in making new friends and could feel isolated from society.Another reason is that people may face the problems of misunderstanding in pronunciation and meaning which can cause conflicts between them.It can be difficult for them to understand cultural jokes, tradition and social norms.
Some practical problems include problems at work.As a result, they could face difficulty in understanding instruction which can cause mistakes in work.Another problem is healthcare problem they cannot clearly explain the symptoms to the doctor.Government and bank work is also a problem cause by language barriers.As a result, people could face it difficult to understand forms, official documents and rules.People may face problems in shopping and transport.Problems in shops, buses and routes understanding.
In conclusion, I agree with that because many people face problems due to language barriers.Many problems like in communication, healthcare, cultural differences, work problems.However, it can be improve by language skills and providing support to foreigners.
