IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It recent era, migrants are moving to different continents of world in order to get an better employment oppurtunities. so, migrants have to speak natives language,this leads towards the several issues of social life, as well as in the practical life.I partially agree with that statement.
Firstly, foreign people are multilingual, they speak more then one language, one is their primary mother language, and another is the country's local language. This support the diversity in the states, in term of language and the culture they bring. Moreover, The migrants who speak more then one language have the significant chances of growth in thier workplace. for instance, in hotels and restaurents.
Secondly, The individuals who speak and understand more than one language are likely to face some social issues like racism from natives. The locals are more concern about their language, they would do any possible thing to preserve their native language, and for that purpose they are likey to start an racist attacks among that population whose motive is to earn and live better life, as compare to thier homeland. Additionally, it brings practical problems also.To better understand, some students and workers have to take local transport while commute to their destination, and the transport they are using such as bus or tram have workers who are proficient only in their local language, this leads towards the some sort of understanding and social issues.
To conclude, every problem has merit and demerits, it totally depends on the individual's perspective. Foreign language speakers bring their language and culture, its a positive impact on natives of that local country. While, it brings some demerits like social and practical concerns.
