Student answer (Band 6.0)
Residing in a foreign country where a different language is spoken can create considerable social and everyday challenges.I strongly agree with this view because as living in a country where you have to speak their language is a major, challenge particularly for people who are not fluent in it.
One of the main reason why i agree with this view is that the language barriers can cause in social communication because without knowing you can not communicate with anyone. However, you should need to learn language for the communication. For example, if people do not understand the local language, they may find it difficult to communicate with others and build social relationships.
In addition, language barriers can make it difficult to find a job and succeed in education. For instance, if a student moves abroad for higher education without learning the local language, they may face difficulties when looking for part-time employment as well as communicating with teachers and classmates. For example, Germany has German as its main language, so a person who moves there without knowing German may experience a lack of confidence and difficulties in everyday communication. Moreover, if a country's rules and regulations are written in its native language, people who do not understand that language may struggle to read and follow them, which could potentially result in unintentional violations.
In conclusion, living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause significant problems. As far as i am concerned the major problem is the difficulty of communicating with others. However, difficulties in finding employment are very common in a country where people do not know the local language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring both social and practical problems associated with living in a foreign-language country. The student takes a clear position in the introduction ("I strongly agree with this view") and maintains it throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of Germany and educational challenges. While some explanations occasionally loop back to the same point about communication, the main arguments are well-developed and fulfil the requirements of the task. This aligns closely with Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, such as social issues in the second paragraph and practical issues like employment and regulations in the third. Cohesive devices are employed, including transition markers like "In addition" and "For instance". However, there are some minor mechanical errors in cohesion and referencing, such as the awkward transition "However, you should need to learn language for the communication", which detracts slightly from the flow. These features place the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as "social and everyday challenges", "language barriers", and "unintentional violations". However, there are noticeable limitations and occasional word-choice errors, such as "as living in a country" and missing articles (e.g., "learn language"). Less common lexical items are attempted but occasionally lack precision or natural collocation. The errors do not impede communication, making this a solid representative of Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause sentences (e.g., "Moreover, if a country's rules and regulations are written in its native language, people who do not understand that language may struggle..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation, run-on sentences (e.g., missing spaces after periods), article usage, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., "One of the main reason"). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the core message, they occur frequently enough to prevent the writing from reaching Band 7.
