Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response engages with the task and attempts to present a position on whether living in a foreign country causes social and practical problems. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes tangential, addressing the prompt only minimally. While the writer touches upon practical problems such as shopping and language barriers, the explanation is repetitive and heavily reliant on the single solution of using English. The overall position is discernible, but the ideas are insufficiently extended, relying on basic examples like buying food in Dubai or Spain rather than exploring the broader social or practical implications of foreign residency.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The organization of information and ideas lacks a clear overall progression. Although the student attempts to structure the essay with transitional markers like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'On my experience', the flow is frequently disrupted by unclear referencing and a lack of logical sequencing between sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal connections within paragraphs are weak and repetitive. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or inaccurate, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of thought smoothly from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, significantly straining the reader's comprehension. Throughout the text, the writer relies on a very restricted range of words, frequently misusing terms and word forms, such as 'perblom' instead of problem, and awkward phrasing like 'received the eat of food'. Spelling errors and incorrect word choices are prominent and often impede communication, reflecting a lexical control that falls into the lowest bands where vocabulary is inadequate for expressing complex thoughts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting primarily of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex structures. Errors are frequent and often distort the meaning of the sentences. There are persistent issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and incorrect prepositions, such as in 'i am live the city of Spain' and 'you living on aborad country'. These frequent structural inaccuracies cause considerable difficulty for the reader and prevent the formation of error-free sentences.
