Student answer (Band 6.0)
To live in a country where you do not know the native language is a primary factor of social and practical difficulties. This statement is considered true by a major proportion of the society. I also agree with this thought and consider it an underlying cause for the foreigners always feeling uncomfortable in such a society.
Being unable to communicate as others in a society brings up social problems. Because of this, one is always lacking while having to communicate with a native. They are unable to convey their thoughts properly which results in misunderstanding. Consequently, You always left behind in such a society. Also, endulging in extracurricular activities feels a burden. For example, when you do not know the local language, you cannot understand what others are expecting from you and what responses would be appropriate.
Regarding practical problems, you need to be pretty good at speaking the local language that is understood by your coworkers to convey your ideas and thoughts properly. If you are not up to the mark with your speaking skills, you will not be able to thrive for long. For example, your leaderships asks you to implement a special measure regarding a project and you are not good at speaking that foreign language, the result would be total lack of understanding and going against the leadership's desires which will further lead to harsh and uncomfortable feelings between you and others.
In conclusion, residing in a country and having to communicate in foreign language surely brings up challenges as well as major conflicts between you and the society. Only way out of this is to be able to communicate properly in the native language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both social and practical problems associated with speaking a foreign language, maintaining a clear position that agrees with the prompt. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, the social problems paragraph introduces the point that 'indulging in extracurricular activities feels a burden', but this idea is left somewhat under-developed without a concrete, specific example to support how language barriers affect social integration outside of basic communication. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support all main points equally with fully elaborated examples and maintain a fully sustained, well-developed line of reasoning throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the body paragraphs are logically divided into social and practical issues. Progression is generally maintained, but referencing is occasionally unclear or faulty, as seen in shifts like 'Consequently, You always left behind' and the sudden transition to 'Also, endulging in extracurricular activities feels a burden'. Cohesive devices are used, but some mechanical phrasing is evident. To progress, the writer must ensure smoother transitions between sentences and more precise referencing throughout, avoiding abrupt shifts in tone and structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'underlying cause', 'extracurricular activities', and 'thrive'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that reflect some inaccuracy, such as 'endulging' instead of 'indulging', and awkward collocations like 'leadership asks you' instead of 'management asks you' or 'your leaders ask you'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but to achieve a higher score, the writer must use a wider range of less common vocabulary with greater precision, better control of collocations, and zero spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response utilizes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at complex structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing verbs or articles, such as 'Consequently, You always left behind' and 'Only way out', as well as subject-verb agreement issues like 'your leaderships asks'. These errors persist but rarely impede overall communication. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to produce a greater frequency of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over punctuation, articles, and verb phrases.
