Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the social and practical problems of living in a foreign country, thus taking a clear position of agreement. Relevant ideas are presented, such as isolation, difficulties in daily routines, and employment hurdles. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack sufficient explanation, such as the brief mentions of healthcare and career restrictions, which remain somewhat limited. Additionally, it must be noted that the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, falling significantly short of the two hundred and fifty-word threshold, which impacts the overall completeness of the task execution.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, maintaining a clear general progression of ideas. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical and sometimes faulty. Transitional phrases like 'On a social level', 'Practicaly', and 'In conclussion' are used to structure the text, but referencing and logical links between sentences are occasionally unclear, as seen in abrupt shifts between ideas in the body paragraphs. Furthermore, paragraphing is somewhat irregular, with the main body ideas clustered together rather than clearly separated into distinct topical units.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'isolation', 'depressed', and 'opportunities'. However, there are numerous noticeable errors in word choice, word formation, and spelling—such as 'forigen', 'hurdel', 'statemant', 'barreres', 'imigrantes', 'flueantly', 'fallomates', 'veggitabels', 'exhausted' instead of exhausting, and 'defficultes'. While communication is generally maintained despite these flaws, the frequent inaccuracies in spelling and collocation cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer displays a limited range of structures, utilizing a mix of simple sentences alongside attempts at more complex forms. However, these attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, marred by frequent errors in basic grammar, articles, prepositions, and punctuation. Examples of structural and grammatical inaccuracies include missing articles ('leads to the isolation'), incorrect verb forms ('cannot able to o communicate', 'make obstacles'), and poor punctuation with missing spaces after periods. These errors persist throughout the text and cause frequent difficulty for the reader in parsing the intended meaning.
