Student answer (Band 5.0)
Residing in a country where speaking a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. In my view, I totally agree with this statement. This essay will elucidate the reasons for this trend.
On closer Observation, it is an irrefutable fact that speaking in another language, such as a foreign which will effect the poeple we are leaving with. This is mainly because of their cultural mother tongue, they are unable to understand a different language and face difficulties interacting with others. To cite an example, if a grandparent interacts with their grandchildren and if they speak in english language as taught in their schools then theyb will face obstacles in understanding about what they are will to say about. As a result, it will cause a serious threat to ancient people.
Another crucial factor is that other outsiders may also cause practical problems, especially when we are approaching for doing shopping and if we talk in foreign language with the shopkeeper or with salesman then they suffer from understanding about actually what the person is willing to say. Furthermore, leading them in confusion. Besides this it will also effect the surrounding people when reacting with them as they cannot comprehend our language and face problems in working with us. Therfore, they are effecting both our surrounding peoples as well as the outsiders due to inefficiency in understanding a different language.
In Conclusion, I strongly believe using a foreign language in our daily activities will effect others in understanding it owing to the fact that they are not fond of understanding it as since from childhood they are talking in different language and also it is not easy to understand it quickly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While you present a clear position that you totally agree with the statement, the development of your ideas is limited and under-developed. For example, your first body paragraph attempts to explain social problems by discussing a grandparent and grandchildren speaking English, but the example is confusing and lacks clear explanation. Similarly, the second paragraph touches upon practical problems when shopping, but the ideas remain superficial and repetitive rather than being fully extended and supported with relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. To move to a higher band, you need to ensure that every main idea is supported by well-developed, clear explanations and relevant examples that directly address both the social and practical problems of living in a foreign language environment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation evident in your essay, such as the use of basic introduction and conclusion markers ('Residing in...', 'In Conclusion'), but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive. For instance, you rely heavily on repetitive transitions like 'Furthermore' and 'Besides this', and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'leading them in confusion' where it is uncertain who 'them' refers to. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and abrupt shifts in thought. To achieve a higher score, you need to ensure that ideas are logically sequenced with a clearer progression, and use a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices without over-relying on the same few transition words.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'elucidate', 'irrefutable fact', and 'comprehend', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation that cause difficulty for the reader. For example, you write 'effect the poeple we are leaving with' instead of 'affect the people we are living with', use 'ancient people' when you likely mean elderly people, and incorrectly write 'effect' as a verb instead of 'affect'. There are also spelling errors ('poeple', 'theyb', 'Therfore') and awkward phrasings like 'approaching for doing shopping'. To improve, you should focus on accurate word formation, correct spelling, and natural collocations, ensuring that your vocabulary choices precisely convey your intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Your writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that cause difficulty for the reader, including issues with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. For instance, your opening sentence is a fragment rather than a complete clause: 'Residing in a country where speaking a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.' You also make repeated errors such as 'if they speak in english language... then theyb will face obstacles in understanding about what they are will to say about' and 'due to inefficiency in understanding'. To reach a higher band, you need to increase your control over complex sentence patterns and significantly reduce the frequency of basic grammatical and punctuation errors.
