Student answer (Band 5.5)

living in foreign countries where people are required to speak their language for commuincation leads to significant social and practical problems, I strongly agree with this view because non-native people cannot able to communicate smoothly with a native ones and that effect their working abilities and it also find diffcult for them to make friends.

People are moving abroad for various reasons but the commuication gap becomes a significant probelm for them which disturb their working qualities. Most of the people have a great ideas and skills but they cannot utalize these things properly in their workplace because they may not have good command on local language. For exmaple, Mr Mamoon ur rashid is one of the famous professor of Agriculure department in the Quaid-e-azam University, Islamabad, However, most of the Universities in Pakistan when conducting seminors related to Agriculture are frequently invite him and he present very well on the given topics by giving proepr facts and figures, But last year when he was invited to Universiy of Sha Faisal in Saudi Arabia, He didn`t able to clearified them properly because of language barier between professor and students and most of the student were considered him as a common professer just because of language barier.

However, Its effects are not limited to workplace, it also create problems to making friends, This is a human nature that they make those people friends whose are interested to them due to some qualities but due to lack of communication overseas are not able to show their friendship loyality properly to collegues or neigbours due to which they fail to make friends.

In conclusion, I strongly agree with that foreigners have a problems with their working qualities due to language barier and it also make difficult for them to make friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you strongly agree that language barriers create both practical and social difficulties. You address both parts of the statement by discussing workplace performance and the difficulty of making friends. The example of the professor invited to a Saudi university gives the practical point a specific illustration, and the friendship paragraph is relevant. However, the example is lengthy and its connection to the broader claim could be explained more explicitly; the social point is also less developed, relying mainly on a general statement about friendship. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how limited communication affects work and relationships, and develop each reason with a clear consequence or further example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs cover practical and social problems, and a conclusion restates your position. Transitions such as “However” and “In conclusion” help signal movement between sections. Within paragraphs, though, some ideas are joined in long sentences, making the progression harder to follow, particularly in the professor example. The repeated use of “due to” and “because” also makes connections feel mechanical, while references such as “these things” are not fully precise. Use shorter sentences to separate the example’s events and outcome, and vary linking expressions while making each pronoun’s reference unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communication gap,” “command on local language,” “workplace,” and “language barrier,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “working abilities” and “friendship loyalty.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable throughout, including “commuincation,” “Agriculure,” “seminors,” and “clearified.” Some combinations are also unnatural or imprecise: “working qualities” and “make those people friends whose are interested to them” do not express the intended meaning clearly. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, for example “job performance,” “make friends,” and “communicate effectively.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “but,” and “whose,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences. Examples include “cannot able to communicate,” “it also create problems,” and “he didn’t able to clearified them,” where verb forms or agreement are faulty. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “a great ideas” and “a common professer.” Several sentences run together with commas, particularly in the opening and the professor example, so punctuation obscures the relationships between clauses. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, then use full stops to control sentence length.
