Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued that living abrod where people have to use different language can cause problems such as social and practical. I partly agree with this stament, eventough it causes serious problem for people to survive there, it also provide many benifits for the individuals.

Firstly, The reason why i agree is that even minor mistakes in foreign language, while communicating can cause misunderstanding which leads to wrong decisions. When person uses basic level language at workplace to communicate with co-workers, native people may struggle to understand the non-native persons language properly. Therefore, they can understand the topic in a wrong way and they work according to what they understand, so whole process gets interputed and may leads to bad outcomes. For instance, when someone asked the address of a place to other person if they are not good at language then he may understand something and lead to wrong destination. Similarly, this causes social and practical problems.

On the other hand, it helps for personal development. If people live in a native country life long they may not get chance to explore diffrent cultures and places. However, living in foreign country make sure people to feel new culture and tranditions. In addition, it helps people to learn new techologies which are not present in the own

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a partly agreeing position and address both the problems and potential benefits of living abroad. The workplace misunderstanding example and the directions example are relevant, while the second paragraph introduces cultural exposure and learning. However, the response only partially develops the task: the benefits are not connected clearly to the question of social or practical problems, and the final idea about technology is unfinished. The position is also difficult to follow in places because the opening says you partly agree but does not explain the limits of that agreement. The response is 33 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop and support your ideas. Explain your extent of agreement clearly and complete each supporting point.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: the opening states a position, the first body paragraph presents problems, and “On the other hand” signals a shift to benefits. Examples such as workplace communication and asking for directions help illustrate the first point. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph moves from personal development to culture and then technology without explaining how these ideas support your argument. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “Similarly, this causes social and practical problems,” which repeats the point rather than advancing it. The response also ends abruptly, so the overall argument has no conclusion. Build each paragraph around one clear main idea, connect examples explicitly to it, and finish with a brief summary of your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “misunderstanding,” “co-workers,” “native people,” “personal development,” and “cultures and places.” These choices make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “abrod,” “stament,” “benifits,” “interputed,” and “tranditions.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, including “use different language,” “feel new culture,” and “learn new techologies.” Aim to use accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe “communication difficulties” and “cultural traditions,” and use “experience a new culture” rather than “feel new culture.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “when someone asked the address” and a cause-and-effect sentence about workplace communication. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “it also provide” instead of a correctly agreed verb, “When person uses” without an article, and “may leads” after a modal. The opening sentence also joins several ideas with commas, making the structure difficult to follow. Use shorter, complete sentences when needed, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms after modal verbs. More accurate control of these patterns would make your meaning easier to understand.
