Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You state a position—“I firmly agree”—and introduce the topic of communication with native speakers, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion does not explain whether or how living abroad creates serious social and practical problems. The body paragraph stops after saying that people without language knowledge “can't fulfill their needs”; the remaining explanation and example are unfinished placeholders. As a result, the reasons are not developed or supported, and the essay does not address both aspects of the prompt in a meaningful way. The response also falls 90 words short of the required minimum. Develop at least two relevant problems, explain their effects, and support each with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic essay shape: an introductory paragraph, a brief statement of the writer’s position, and a body paragraph beginning with “The primary reason.” Linking expressions such as “In other words,” “For instance,” and “As a result” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the ideas do not progress into a complete argument. The body relies on a sequence of unfinished prompts in brackets, and the introduction’s final sentence announces what the essay will do without the promised discussion following. Some linking is also awkward or repetitive, as in “The primary reason … is that because.” To improve, organise each body paragraph around one complete point, followed by explanation and a relevant example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-relevant and formal vocabulary, including “proficiency,” “sufficient command,” “communicate,” and “considerable debate.” These choices show an effort to discuss language and life abroad rather than relying only on basic words. However, the range is limited, and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “speaking language as per according to area,” “makes individual difficult to living,” and “easy to communicate with native people.” There are also spelling errors, including “sucficient” and “thet,” which reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of expressions for social and practical difficulties, and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “local language,” “makes it difficult for individuals to live,” and “communicate easily with local residents.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both longer and shorter sentence forms, including a complex opening beginning “While it is believed by some…” and a conditional clause beginning “if people don't have knowledge.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns are faulty or incomplete. Examples include “it makes individual difficult to living,” the tangled construction “The primary reason … is that because,” and the fragment “In other words, it is comp.” The opening sentence also contains a long chain of ideas that is difficult to follow. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, verb forms, and clause connections before adding more complex structures.
