Student answer (Band 5.5)

Living in abroad where you have to talk in language of that country can lead to various social and real life problems. I believe it might cause social issue but it will not be the reason of practical hurdles.

In my opinion, if you live in any other foreign place then you have to speak with fluency to the people of that place. For your proper communication and social activities, accuracy in language and pronunciation are the key factors to communicate effectively.Your chances of having friends in other countries reduce to greater extent if you are struggling with talking to anyone. Tongue act as a barrier between the individuals of separate areas. For instance, if you are going to America and you dont know English then it will definetely hinder your social life there.

On the other hand, if you move to any other nation then your practical life will not be disturbed because of language. In real life you perform your duty and buy some food for yourself so it does not require any efficacy in tongue. Your days can pass on smoothly even if you are not good at languae of that new place. For example, my father lived in hongkong as an electrician. He spent almost ten years there and he faced no worriies throghout his professional life despite of being unaware of the communication style of that country.

In conclusion, social issues might arise in your stay at the country where you have to use other language while the practical difficulties are not associated with the language gap.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that living through a foreign language can create social problems, but you disagree that it necessarily causes practical difficulties. You address both sides and support them with relevant examples, including the difficulty of making friends and your father’s experience working in Hong Kong. However, the practical-problems argument is less fully explained: saying that daily duties and buying food do not require language ability is a broad claim, and the electrician example does not clarify how your father managed communication at work or in everyday situations. Develop this point with a specific explanation, such as how gestures, translation tools, or workplace support helped him. This would make the reasoning more convincing and balanced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present contrasting arguments, and the conclusion restates your position. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow this progression. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical or the reasoning moves quickly from one claim to another. For example, the point about language accuracy and pronunciation leads to reduced chances of making friends without fully explaining the connection. The sentence beginning “In real life you perform your duty” also shifts from practical tasks to the claim that language is unnecessary without a clear bridge. Use more explicit cause-and-effect links and develop each paragraph’s central idea before moving to its example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including topic-related terms such as “social activities,” “communication,” “barrier,” and “professional life.” There are also attempts at less common phrasing, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “Living in abroad,” “real life problems,” “efficacy in tongue,” and “communication style of that country.” Spelling errors such as “definetely,” “languae,” and “worriies” are noticeable. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “living abroad,” “practical problems,” and “language proficiency.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if you move to any other nation” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems are evident. For example, “Tongue act as a barrier” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “if you are going to America and you dont know English then” needs clearer clause punctuation. There are also missing spaces after sentence-ending punctuation, as in “effectively.Your.” Work on articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, and proofread each sentence. More accurate control of these forms would make your ideas easier to follow.
