Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear position—“I agree with this statement”—and discuss social communication difficulties, which is relevant to the question. However, the response addresses the practical-problems part only minimally, and the claim that speaking another language damages a country’s “reputation” is not clearly explained or supported. The Pakistan example is relevant but mainly repeats that Urdu is widely understood rather than showing a specific problem faced by someone using a foreign language. The response is 207 words, so it is 43 words below the required minimum; the 22 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop both social and practical effects with specific examples and fuller explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the response. However, progression within the body paragraphs is difficult to follow, particularly in the second paragraph, where ideas about reputation, education, moving abroad, communication, and traditions are crowded together. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than bringing the main points together. Some connections are also unclear, such as how language use leads to reputational problems. Organise each paragraph around one main point, explain it in a logical sequence, and use clear references to connect examples to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of relevant terms, including “communication,” “foreign language,” “traditions,” and “understand,” so the general topic is usually identifiable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “cause reputation problem,” “loose their communication,” and “people’s ignored that person.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “movimg,” “csuse,” and “thier,” which reduce clarity. Build a more precise range for describing social isolation and everyday difficulties, and check spelling carefully. For example, explain whether people struggle to access services, form relationships, or participate in community life rather than repeating “communication problem.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences using “because” and “so,” showing some effort to connect ideas. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “foreign language causes serious social problem,” “all people understand,” and “people’s ignored that person.” The long sentence beginning “Foreign language helps the young people” contains several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide complex ideas into shorter sentences. More controlled sentences would make your reasoning easier to understand.
