Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that living in city where we have to speak a foreign language can leads to serious social problems as well as practical problems. In my view, I agree with this statement because it could leads to feeling of loneliness and also affects the academic carrier.

One of the major issue where speaking a foreign language is mandatory in british country, it can cause a social problem by altering a feeling of loneliness among the individuals, as people found difficulty in interacting with local peoples because they cannot understand the accent of peoples. For instance, peoples who moved to foreign country for better jobs and carrier growth cannot be able to communicates with their employes and managers which may make them feel lonely and it could reduce self-confidence.

On the other hand, it can also cause practical problem by affecting the academic life of an adults, students may suffer with an serious issue because without getting a knowledge of another language could lead to their academic failure, as does not interact with students of thier same age easily and found difficult to make new friends.Furthermore, they couldn't reach through out professors, For example, Students commute to abroad for their higher studies cannot built relationships with their freinds and lectures which could increase anxiety and peer pressures.

In conclusion, I agree that living in country where foreign language becames mandatory causes several problems such as failure of an academics and cause the feeling of loneliness. Nevertheless, regular practice and face-to-face interaction reduces such kind of issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that living in a foreign-language environment can create social and practical difficulties. You address both areas, using loneliness and communication at work as social effects, and academic challenges as practical effects. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the academic example is difficult to follow, and the conclusion introduces practice and face-to-face interaction without explaining how these address the problems. The response is also 248 words, so it falls two words short of the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each example more clearly and ensure the response meets the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs covering social and practical problems, and a conclusion. The progression from loneliness to academic difficulties is relevant, and signposts such as “For instance,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help show the intended relationships. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “On the other hand” suggests a contrast, although the paragraph adds another problem supporting your position. The long sentences in the body paragraphs also make the sequence of cause and effect hard to follow, particularly in the academic example. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing, and choose transitions that reflect the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “feeling of loneliness,” “self-confidence,” “academic failure,” and “peer pressures.” These choices make your main concerns understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision. Examples include “academic carrier” for career, “local peoples,” “reach through out professors,” and “freinds.” Repeated use of “problem,” “people,” and “could” also makes the response less varied. Build a more accurate set of phrases for communication and education, and check spelling and natural word combinations. This would help express your ideas more clearly and flexibly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because” and “which,” and you use a future-oriented conditional idea in “it could reduce self-confidence.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For example, “living in city … can leads” has article and verb-form problems, while “students may suffer with an serious issue” has errors in the preposition and article. The sentence beginning “as does not interact” also lacks a clear subject, and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
