Student answer (Band 5.0)

Living in a new conutry where you have to speak a different language can cause some social and practical problems.According to my opinion I agree with this statement that speaking new language in new contury cause many problems and issue for you.

One major reason is that Everyone cannot learn new language. This is beacuse its a very difficult process and it takes to much time. For example if a person moves to germany but he does not speak german language he cannot communicate properly with the people and also he cannot understand them.

Another important consideration is that If you learn new words of that language which you have to speak you can make mistakes and you can hurt someones feelings. A great example of this was that if a person comes to new conutry and try to speak that language and if he speaks wrong people will got angry on him. If people learn new language fast ,they can communicate easily.

The final main point is that if you are speaking new language in your job that can cause serious social and practical problems. For example if you are talking with your boss and you dont understand his words then you are in too much trouble and your job will be on stake. First you have to underatnd and communicate with people good and then you have to do some job.

In conclusion i would say that people should first learn the language of the country where they want to come after that they will come to that country so they cannot get in trouble and do their work smoothly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that using a foreign language can create both social and practical difficulties. You address these two aspects through examples involving communication with local people, possible misunderstandings, and speaking with a boss at work. However, the ideas are only partly developed. For instance, the claim that “Everyone cannot learn new language” is very broad and is not explained or qualified, while the example of someone offending others through mistakes is not specific about how this might happen. The conclusion mainly advises people to learn the language before moving, rather than drawing together the reasons for your view. Develop each point with a clearer explanation and a more realistic, detailed example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, three body paragraphs signalled by “One major reason,” “Another important consideration,” and “The final main point,” followed by a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. In the second body paragraph, the advice that learning quickly allows easier communication does not clearly connect to the preceding claim about hurting someone’s feelings. Some linking phrases, such as “For example” and “if,” are repeated, and the conclusion introduces advice rather than clearly summarising the argument. Make each paragraph follow one clear sequence: state the problem, explain its effect, and then give a focused example.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “communicate,” “understand,” “social,” and “practical,” so the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “new language,” “problems,” and “people.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “job will be on stake” and “do their work smoothly.” Spelling errors, including “conutry,” “beacuse,” and “underatnd,” also reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Build a wider set of precise expressions for language barriers and their consequences, and proofread spelling. For example, you could describe “misunderstandings,” “social isolation,” or “difficulty following workplace instructions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences using clauses with “if,” “but,” and “that,” as in the example about moving to Germany. This shows an effort to connect ideas, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range remains limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “if he speaks wrong people will got angry on him,” where the conditional verb forms are inconsistent, and “First you have to underatnd and communicate with people good,” which has problems with sentence construction and adverb use. There are also recurring issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent capitalisation. Practise accurate conditional patterns and check each sentence for complete, correctly linked clauses.
