Student answer (Band 4.5)

I'd like to talk about this interesting topic,in which i will discuss by some specific problems created by speaking foreign languages in our country.

Initially,in my country national language is "Urdu".Due to the fact that, abundant people in my country don't speak urdu language. As in Pakistan a lot of people like;90% people speaks punjabi language. Some other particular language are also seaks in our country, owing to some particular languages are always speak in pakistan. No doubt,in these lamguage are also involved some specific languages, which may cause detrimental effect on the nation and always build a serious practical problem on the people.Due to the fact that, maximum people should always respect their national language or some specific languages which are recommended in our country.

For instance,in a early few days ago,i met some people in the shopping mall who speaks in indonasiaon language each other. After a while, one of them came near me and ask me some question, but i can't understand.Due to the fact that,i have no any type of knowledge by indonasion language. So,after he aske me question.I replid his in english language. As he can't understand what's i speak.I also tell all of them that, please speak in English language, but all of them cannot understand my any advice about him speaking.

I'm also speak him in Englih language, owing to understand for that person because the English kanguage is one of the most common language in the world. So, that's the reason i speak him in English language.

All of conclusion about that discussion,i realize that no man can speak their foreign national language in other country. But English language must be do.

That's the reason in other country can speak foreign language will also be causes a serious social problem, also as well as practical problems. To be honest,i agree this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state your position clearly at the end: “To be honest, I agree this statement.” The shopping-mall anecdote also gives a relevant example of a practical communication problem. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it focuses mainly on language differences within Pakistan and one encounter with Indonesian speakers, rather than explaining the broader social and practical problems of living in a country where you must use a foreign language. Social effects are barely developed, and the discussion of Urdu, Punjabi and English does not clearly support your position on the prompt. To strengthen the response, explain both types of problems directly and develop each with a relevant reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, a discussion of language use, an example and a conclusion. The shopping-mall incident is a recognisable example, and phrases such as “For instance” signal that an example follows. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are repeated or loosely connected. The account of the encounter is spread across multiple paragraphs, while the conclusion introduces the unclear claim that “no man can speak their foreign national language in other country.” Linking phrases such as “Due to the fact that” and “owing to” are used repeatedly without always showing a clear relationship between ideas. Use focused paragraphs for your position, social problems, practical problems and conclusion, with simpler, more precise links.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “national language,” “practical problem,” “social problem” and “understand,” and the example makes the communication issue identifiable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent inaccurate word choices or spellings sometimes strain the reader’s understanding. Examples include “lamguage,” “seaks,” “indonasiaon,” “Englih” and “kanguage”; “build a serious practical problem” is also an unnatural collocation. Several phrases, such as “some specific languages” and “all of conclusion about that discussion,” are vague or unclear. Build a more precise vocabulary for the task—for example, terms for isolation, access to services and misunderstandings—and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “Due to the fact that” and “As,” but control is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “90% people speaks punjabi language” has problems with the article, agreement and plural form, while “one of them came near me and ask me some question” shifts tense and has agreement and number errors. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the opening, “topic,in which i will discuss.” Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses. Pay particular attention to subject–verb agreement, consistent past tense in the anecdote, articles, plurals and sentence punctuation.
