Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, English has become an international language. In most of the developed countries, English has been spoken on a large scale. But now, English has become a trend in underdevelop as well as in developing countries like Pakistan and India. I agree that in developing countries, speaking English now had become a serious problem especially for primary school children and uneducated people.
No doubt, English is a nice language but it can cause problems in those countries where a very less people know about speaking English. In many primary schools, it had been become a trend to introduce yourself and giving lectures in English. Most of the villagwr and with poor background students do not know English. Due to which they cannot understand lectures and results in failure in exams. And if they are forced to learn English in primary schools, it can also cause serious problems. For example in most of primary schools in India, 9 out of 10 students even cannot read urdu or hindi verses correctly. It can cause problems in practical life of students.
The other harmful effect of speaking foreign language is that it can cause splition in society. Some people in society can speak english and others cannot speak. It can split society into groups.
So the conclusion is that, English holds great importance internationally. But, students in primary schools must be treated to speak their local language. So that they do not face problems in their local society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear general position that English can create difficulties, and you support it with examples about primary-school pupils and social division. However, the response only partially addresses the prompt: it focuses mainly on English in developing countries and education, rather than the broader experience of living in a country where one must speak a foreign language. Practical problems are mentioned through difficulty understanding lessons, but social problems receive only brief explanation, and the conclusion shifts to what schools should do. The example about students’ ability to read local languages is relevant but needs clearer explanation of how foreign-language use causes the stated harm. The response is also five words below the required minimum. Develop both types of problems and connect each example directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on education, a short paragraph on social division, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main points. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph introduces a new social effect but does not develop it, while the conclusion largely repeats the introduction and adds a recommendation. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “Due to which” and “And if they are forced,” and the repeated use of “problems” does little to show how ideas relate. Improve cohesion by using complete, clearly connected sentences and expanding the social paragraph with an explanation or example. A more direct transition between practical and social consequences would also make the argument flow more logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “international language,” “primary schools,” “practical life,” and “split society,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and several inaccurate or awkward choices make parts of the response difficult to interpret. For example, “a very less people,” “villagwr,” “splition,” and “treated to speak” are not appropriate forms or collocations. Repetition of “English,” “problems,” and “students” also restricts precision. Aim to use accurate phrases such as “a small number of people,” “divide society,” and “be taught to speak.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more precise terms for the effects on learners would make your argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if they are forced to learn English,” and you use some subordinate clauses to explain causes. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “English now had become,” “it had been become a trend,” and “it can split society into groups.” The sentence beginning “Due to which” is also a fragment, and “So that they do not face problems” is not joined correctly to the preceding sentence. Practise forming complete sentences and checking tense and subject–verb agreement. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
