Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely argued that speaking a foreign language in a living country can cause social and practical peoblems. From my perspective, I strongly disagree with this view because language is essential for the communtication and maintaining social connections.

The primary reason for my opinion is that language is the medium for the communication. This is because if individuals are living in a particular country where they have to a speak foreign language for their survival. Without speaking foreign language it is difficult for them to communicate with others. For example if a person living abroad and they need some thing for their survival such as food or drink. They have to speak that language to purchased that item. Therefore, speaking foreign language in a particular country hepls individuals to communicate and exchange their feelings.

Another significant reason for my opinion is that speaking foreign language in other country helps individuals to maintain their social relationships. If people are living abroad they should built social connections. For this they have to know and speak the foreign languageof a particular country. For instance, if a person living in another country for a long time. For building social interection they have to speak that particular language. This can help them to improve their social connections. As a result, speaking foreign language is essential to make new friends in a new country and improve social connections.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that speaking a foreign language in living country play an important role to built a new connections in society and also it is essential to communicate with others, who are living in a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly disagree, and the conclusion returns to the importance of communication and social connections. Both body paragraphs give relevant reasons, with examples involving buying food or drink and making friends abroad. However, the response only partly explores the question’s claim that living in a foreign-language environment can cause serious social and practical problems. It mainly explains why speaking the language is beneficial, without acknowledging or explaining difficulties such as misunderstanding essential information or feeling excluded while learning. The examples are also general and their explanations are brief. To develop the response more fully, address both the potential problems and why you consider them less significant, then extend each example with a clearer explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs with separate main points, and a conclusion. The progression from communication to social relationships is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The primary reason,” “Another significant reason,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences repeat that speaking the language helps people communicate or build connections. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “For this they have to know and speak” and the transition from the example to the general claim. Improve progression by making each paragraph develop a distinct point, using pronouns and linking phrases precisely, and explaining how each example supports the argument rather than restating the same benefit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “survival,” “social relationships,” and “social connections.” However, the range is limited and key words are repeated frequently, especially “speak,” “language,” and “connections.” Several spelling errors are noticeable, including “peoblems,” “communtication,” “hepls,” and “interection,” while some word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “language is the medium for the communication” and “speak that language to purchased that item.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall meaning remains understandable. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for communication and integration, and check spelling and common word partnerships carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your sentences communicate the main argument, and you attempt to use subordinate clauses, for example, “This is because if individuals are living in a particular country…” and “If people are living abroad…”. However, the range is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. Examples include “they have to a speak,” “they should built,” and “speaking foreign language … play,” where verb forms, agreement, or sentence construction are incorrect. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a new connections,” and several sentences lack the grammatical structure needed for a complete conditional or example, such as “For example if a person living abroad…”. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with controlled clauses, checking verb forms, articles, and subject–verb agreement.
