Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your response gives a clear general preference for learning the local language, and you offer relevant benefits such as improved employment prospects, easier communication, and stronger relationships with residents. However, the prompt asks whether living where a foreign language is spoken causes serious social and practical problems. You focus mainly on the advantages of learning the language, so the problems themselves—and how serious they are—are only indirectly addressed. The position on the statement is therefore not fully clear, and the examples remain broad rather than illustrating a specific difficulty or experience. To strengthen the response, state explicitly how far you agree, discuss both practical and social problems, and explain how language learning may reduce them.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a recognisable line of thought: moving abroad requires adjustment, learning the language can help, and this may bring personal benefits. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example,” and “At last” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the introduction, supporting points, and conclusion. Several ideas are joined in long, loosely connected sentences, and transitions sometimes feel mechanical or unclear, as in “so for achieve all this” and “At last.” Organise the essay into clear paragraphs, with one main point developed in each, and use linking phrases only where they express the relationship between ideas precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communication,” “employment,” “opportunities,” and “relationship,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “permanent residence.” Overall, though, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “beautiful future nice destination visit,” “different state,” and “it gives back us lots of benefits.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “kearn,” “enhace,” and “permenant.” These issues sometimes slow the reader, even though the main message can usually be understood. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “Because language is a source of communication and we need communication in every task.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction can make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “Whenever we decided to move abroad,” “different state have,” and “it help to build up your good image.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several ideas run together. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because” or “which.” Pay particular attention to subject–verb agreement and consistent verb forms.
