Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that there are social and practical issues arises when you live in a different language speaking country. I strongly agree with this opinion because foreign language causes several problems like person cannot communicate with native people and could not work their professionally.
On the one hand, when a person goes to a foreign country for different purposes like to do study or work he needs to speak basic language of that country which is very essential to communicate with people that are locals of that country. So it is vital to survival for a person there. For example, when a person goes to foreign country and need to find his accomodation place he will need to speak the specific language which is spoken in that specific country. So he cannot communicate with people without knowing the language.
On the other hand, a person could not find his professional job without knowing the basic language. He have to speak language which is spoken in that country in order to convey his expertise to job hiring companies. So without language he could not earn his livelyhood to survive in that country. Moreover, when he caught a accident there without knowing the language he could tell his personal information to authorities for identification and to hospitilizing him for treatment.
In conclusion, foreign language is neccessary for a person to know for basic communication and his survival in a foreign country. It is also important for him convey his positive feelings and thoughts to native people in a foreign country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that living in a country where another language is spoken creates difficulties. You address both practical concerns, such as finding accommodation and obtaining work, and social communication with local people, so the response remains relevant to the task. The examples help explain why language matters, particularly the accommodation and emergency situations. However, the social-problem aspect is less fully developed than the practical side: the conclusion mentions expressing feelings and thoughts, but the essay does not explain how language barriers can affect relationships, isolation, or participation in the community. Develop that point and explain the examples more fully to make the response more balanced and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from everyday communication to employment and emergencies, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, especially the repeated use of “So” to introduce consequences. Some connections are also unclear: the first body paragraph begins with studying or working but focuses mainly on accommodation, while the final sentence introduces expressing feelings without developing that idea. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and organise the social and practical problems more distinctly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “communicate,” “professional job,” “expertise,” and “authorities.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural. For example, “different language speaking country” is awkward, “earn his livelyhood” does not fit the intended meaning, and “caught a accident” is not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “accomodation,” “hospitilizing,” and “neccessary” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing language barriers, employment, and social integration, and check spelling and common word partnerships carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “when” and “without,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “issues arises,” “He have to speak,” and “when he caught a accident,” where the verb forms and sentence patterns are not controlled. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, and some infinitive patterns are incomplete, as in “important for him convey.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and revise each sentence for a complete, accurate structure. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
