Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, due to the high rate of immigration especially from developing countries to developed countries, to there is need for immigrants to speak a foreign language which they are not familiar with. While some people see it has a source of serious social problems, others believe it is not. Personally, i support the former because it can make communication difficult and such immigrant will find it difficult to adapt to the new culture.
On the one hand, living in a country where foreign language is spoken might not be an issue because technology has made language interpretation easier. Nowadays, the mobile phones can easily be used to learn, speak and interpret foreign langauge. Additioally, nowadays, a lot of things can be done online such as working remotely, shopping etc.hence human interaction can be very minimal. hence inability to speak foreign language does not have to cause any problem. For instance , duolingo has made language interpretation eaiser.
On the other hand, inability to speak foreign langaue can pose a very serious social problems beacause, such individual will not be able to communicate effectively hence might be limited in the type of job he or she can do.Additionaly such individual might not be able to intigrate fully into the cultire of the country nor make friends. This can lead to loneliness in a foreign land.
In conclusion, although the advent of technology has made language translation easy hence making communication easier, i believe the drawbacks of inability to speak the main language in a country is too enormous and can cause a lot of sociial problems. In the future, the use of one common language by all nations of the world will make living in any country of the world eaiser.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that living where a foreign language is spoken can create serious problems, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides by noting that translation technology can reduce communication barriers, then explaining that limited language ability may restrict employment, cultural integration and friendships. These are relevant reasons, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the Duolingo example is presented as evidence of “language interpretation,” although it is more directly a language-learning tool, and the point about remote work and online shopping could be linked more clearly to why social problems may be limited. Develop the practical problems as well as the social ones, and support each main claim with a more precise example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the counterargument, a paragraph supporting your position, and a conclusion. The contrast between “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the discussion, and the final paragraph returns to your opinion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by repeated or mechanical linking, particularly the repeated “hence” in the technology paragraph. Some ideas are joined without clear punctuation, as in “shopping etc.hence human interaction,” while the relationship between the example of Duolingo and the preceding point is not fully clear. Use fewer, more precise connectors and make each example explicitly support the claim before moving to the next idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communication,” “adapt,” “interpretation,” “integrate,” and “loneliness,” which allows you to discuss both practical and social effects. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “pose a very serious” problem. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “langauge,” “intigrate,” “cultire,” and “eaiser.” Some expressions are also imprecise or repetitive: “language interpretation” does not accurately describe Duolingo, and “the drawbacks … is too enormous” is an awkward way to express the scale of the problem. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing collocations that fit the intended meaning, while varying repeated words such as “difficult” and “individual.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “although the advent of technology has made language translation easy” and a reason introduced with “because.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems reduce control. For example, “such immigrant will find it difficult” needs plural agreement or an article, and “a very serious social problems” has a mismatch between the article and plural noun. Several sentences run together, such as the sentence ending “shopping etc.hence human interaction,” and capitalisation of “i” is inconsistent. Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these basics would make your complex sentences clearer.
