Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a widespread deabte about speaking a foreign language can cause several serious social and practical problems. I largley agree with this view, although I believe learning and speaking a foregin language has multiple benefits also, if they are used at appropriate place or manner.
There are multiple problems that you face in the country, if you can't speak a foreign language. Firstly, the main issue is isolation. When you are not to communicate properly, you cannot make friends or express your personality and emotion, so you feel alone and left out from the community. Another major issue is about cultural misunderstanding because, if you cannot interact properly with someone, it definitely causes misunderstanding in both. For instance, if you are saying good for someone but because of your poor language, maybe that sounds rude and make the situation awkward. Moreover, it also causes problems in your daily life. Simple tasks like going to doctor, dealing with goverments paperwork and understanding employment contract become more stressfull.
However, there are several benefits of speaking a foreign language. The most obivous benefit is career advancement. In today's globalizes world, foreign language is most essential sources to get a job in any specific country. Furthermore, if a person know about a the language of the country, then one has lot of opportunity to do work at any department and social interaction will be easy for that person. For instance, one who know a foriegn language can easily make friends.
In conclusion, although several problem can cause because of a foreign language such as isolation, lack of social interaction and misunderstandings. However, I believe learing about or speaking an international language offers lot of opportunity in both personal and professional life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you largely agree that living where a foreign language is needed can create serious difficulties, while acknowledging benefits. You address social problems through isolation and misunderstandings, and practical problems through medical visits, paperwork and employment contracts. These examples are relevant and help answer the question. However, the benefits paragraph shifts towards the advantages of speaking a foreign language, rather than directly weighing those against the problems of living in a country where you cannot communicate confidently. The career point is also broad, and the claim that language is essential for getting a job is not explained or qualified. Develop the comparison more fully and clarify how the benefits affect your overall degree of agreement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on problems, a paragraph on benefits and a conclusion. The sequence within the problems paragraph is also logical, moving from isolation to misunderstanding and then everyday tasks. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover” and “However” help readers follow the argument, and the examples generally sit beside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. At times, though, links are mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear: “However” introduces benefits without explicitly comparing them with the problems, and the conclusion’s “although… However” construction is awkward. Use clearer transitions that show contrast and make the final paragraph synthesise your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “isolation,” “cultural misunderstanding,” “social interaction,” “career advancement” and “employment contract.” These choices allow you to discuss both personal and practical consequences, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, noticeable spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy: “deabte,” “largley,” “foregin,” “goverments paperwork” and “globalizes world” are examples. Some phrases are also vague, such as “at appropriate place or manner” and “lot of opportunity.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the specific communication barriers or employment advantages rather than relying on broad claims. This would make your vocabulary more controlled and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures such as “if you can't speak a foreign language” and “because, if you cannot interact properly with someone.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. Examples include “When you are not to communicate properly,” “if a person know,” and “one who know,” where verb forms or sentence construction are inaccurate. Articles and number also need attention in phrases such as “a the language” and “several problem.” The final sentence’s “although… However” creates an incomplete or awkward relationship between clauses. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms during revision.
