Student answer (Band 5.5)

Living in a place and speaking a foreign language is a controversial issue today. while some argue that it causes a big social and practicle problems, others believe that it is easy in nowadays. In my opinion i strongly disagree with those who think it is a problem.

Thoses who support that living in a country where you are obliged to speak a foreign language may cause problems argue that the person would face a cultural friction due to the unsimilarity. In addition, the person would face so many problem espicially in the begining to communicate and ask people about the things for instance to create a banque account or to get the permet due to that idividuals would face

Practical Problems.

On the other hand, my first prespective is that speaking or learning another language is benefical for the idividuals and also we are in 2026 the natives of that language when they know that you are attempting to learn thier language they will help the person, welcome him and even try to integrate him with them due to that he wont face social issues. Furthermore, technology is available the idividuals are able to use apps for translation, and also nowadays all people speak at least two language due to that they wont face any problem with the language and they can integrate faster. Also, there are always so many peaple with same nationalities everywhere in the world so the idividual who is going abroad are able to stay in touch with them till he learn the language because it is crucial to learn it.

To conclude, I firmly disagree that not being able to speak a foreign language make u face social or practical problems, because there are so many apps that translate to the foreing language which can facilate although the drawbacks of not being able to speak it fleuntly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you strongly disagree that living where a foreign language is spoken necessarily creates serious problems. You address both social and practical concerns, and the examples of translation apps, local people offering help, and contact with people of the same nationality are relevant. This meets the task well, and the response shows some of the development expected at a stronger level. However, several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, saying that “all people speak at least two language” is a broad generalisation, and the discussion of practical difficulties is brief and then left unfinished. Develop one or two examples in more detail and acknowledge that problems may occur initially, while explaining why they can be overcome.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the opposing view, a paragraph supporting your position, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the overall direction. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “due to that” linking ideas that would be clearer as separate sentences or with more precise connections. The second body paragraph also contains several different points—local support, technology, multilingualism, and compatriots—without enough explanation of how each develops the argument. Some referencing is unclear, as in “they wont face any problem,” where the group meant by “they” is not fully precise. Use clearer links and organise each paragraph around a smaller number of developed points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “cultural friction,” “integrate,” “translation,” and “social issues,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “practicle,” “benefical,” “permet,” and “fleuntly.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “the unsimilarity” and “create a banque account.” Repetition of “problem” and “language” further limits flexibility. These features fit a performance where vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic argument but errors can make the reader pause. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “open a bank account” and “face practical difficulties,” then vary repeated words where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “because,” and “when.” This allows you to express contrast and reasons, but control is inconsistent, and some long sentences become difficult to follow. For example, the sentence beginning “Furthermore, technology is available” joins several claims with commas and “and also,” while the final sentence has an unclear structure: “I firmly disagree that not being able to speak a foreign language make u face…” There are also errors in agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, such as “make” instead of “makes” and the lowercase “while” after a full stop. Aim for shorter, complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
