Student answer (Band 5.5)
Living in a country where you have to speak their native language can create a serious social as well as practical problems. In my opinion, although it cannot be the sole reason reason of such cause,to some extent it can be the reason.
World is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual diversed place. Every country has their culture, customs, traditions and language. It is what makes the world different and unique in nature. Language is a communication tool that connects the people in a society and ties the country. It helps people to understand eachother through words and sentences. Language is something that develops the sense of their own amongst the group of various people. so, living in a country where you dont have a good command of their native language may create a gap between you and the locals. Although english has become second language in most of the place, there are people, societies where they don't understand it. In such place, to have knowledge about the locl language is the only way of communication. Therefore, lacking it can cause the social problems as well as the practical ones, because if you dont know what they are saying and vice versa , you wont be able to establish a cohesive relation. As a social being we all need a mutual support, mutual respect, mutual understanding and a good communication is the only way to establish it, which is only possible if both sides understand the same language. Similarly, having a good knowledgw of foreign language can be very benificial to a person in order to establish the social relation and solve practical problems.
In conclusion, although, people command good english language in this modern age, in some place it will be diffcult to communicate without having the understanding of their local language. Therefore, i belive, living in such place can cause some social as well as practical problems to some extent. so, having the knowledge of forighn language can help people to assess and cope with such problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree to some extent that speaking a foreign language can create social and practical problems, while noting that it is not the only cause. You address both types of difficulty and explain how limited understanding can create a gap with local people and make communication harder. However, the practical consequences are not illustrated as specifically as the social ones, and the discussion relies on broad claims rather than a concrete example, such as difficulty accessing services or handling everyday transactions. The point about English being widely spoken also needs clearer qualification. Develop each side of the question with a specific example and explain how it supports your position. The response meets the required length; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable structure: an introduction, a main discussion and a conclusion, and the ideas generally move from the role of language to its effects on relationships and daily life. Linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “Similarly” and “In conclusion” help signal connections. However, most of the discussion is placed in one long paragraph, so the distinction between social and practical problems is not easy to follow. Some links are also repetitive or awkward, and the conclusion repeats the position without bringing the main points together. Use separate body paragraphs for the two kinds of problems, and make each paragraph develop one central idea with clear references and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communication,” “mutual support,” “cohesive relation” and “local language,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated use of words such as “language,” “people” and “problems,” while several inaccurate word choices and collocations reduce precision. Examples include “diversed place,” “the sense of their own amongst the group” and “assess and cope with such problems.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “locl,” “knowledgw” and “benificial.” Build a more precise set of expressions for social integration and practical barriers, and check spelling and collocations carefully so that your vocabulary communicates ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although it cannot be the sole reason…” and a longer explanation beginning “because if you dont know what they are saying…”. This shows an effort to connect ideas, but complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors in articles, agreement, sentence boundaries and punctuation recur. For example, “a serious social as well as practical problems” has inconsistent article and number agreement, while “Every country has their culture” has a pronoun-agreement problem. Several sentences also run together or contain misplaced commas, making the relationships between clauses less clear. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a controlled subordinate clause, then proofread agreement, articles and punctuation.
